Average parses on par with Assassins yet?

Hey all. I play an 80 Ranger in a guild just starting the T8 raid scene. With the recent Ranger changes I've been wondering, has the Ranger dps gotten close to Assassin dps? Are we still stuck down in the rogue dps? I'm not really geared well enough yet to be able to tell for myself.

I'm an assassin, and the only ranger I ever raid with these beats me on individual fights. So far, my ZW is still higher, but he's within striking distance. I don't think his gear is as good as mine, because he doesn't seem to make as many raids, but I can't swear to that. I'd say yes, its on par. But then, I suck too.

Ive never been beaten by an assassin, but think my gear was always much better then theirs

Equally geared an assasin with their mythical will beat a ranger with their mythical if the groups are the same and the player skill is the same.

And the reason for it is because the devs beleive rangers shouldnt be as good dps wise since they can do so much dps from range and assassins have to be melee for most part.

That also depends on the fight.

I’ve always felt this was like comparing apples and oranges. I too was upset when RoK came out and all of a sudden some of the great gear I had was made useless, and I was expected to make changes to how I played my char just to do OK DPS. I won’t go into that here. I don’t want to hijack.
To my experience Assassins tend to out parse Rangers, although this is not always the case. Sometimes you beat them sometimes you don’t. There a lot of factors in a raid that affects the situation. Assassins have some things going for them that we do not.
1. Assassins tend to get better buffs than Rangers. Hate transfer is a big deal in a lot of MT groups. MT group = Dirge and Coercer/Illy buffs in allot guilds. A Ranger will never be a MT group choice as they offer no utility to the group.
2. Equipment choices are a lot better for Assassins and melee classes all together. There’s a big gulf in weaponry and equipment choices between Rangers and melee scouts at lower to mid level raiding. There is a shit ton of decent to quite nice pre-mythical weapon choices for melee where as there is really only one bow (pre VP) that is better than the fabled epic. Armor and Jewelry choices are tend to benefit melee crit and double attack more than ranged crit and double attack.
Your DPS is going to depend on your group and equipment (skill and effort of course). Not every guild can field enough buffage to make a ranger shine, and not every raid leader can please everyone group wise. However, at the top end, I think Rangers can pretty much stand toe to toe with Assassins. It takes time and effort in VP, but you can get there. Trust me, I’m not to the point where my equipment is good enough but I’m all ready getting close DPS wise. I’ve seen what kind of DPS a properly geared ranger can do. Raid hard, DPS hard, study those around you and you will raise to the top.

I beat our assasin most of the time, he is equally geared if not better. He usually gets a better group. But when I get a good group I own the parse. Maybe our assasin isn't the best but he does well. Also at lower tiers all the melee dps and mages would usually beat my on individual fights but my ZW I was on top. As someone mentioned before they get alot more choices for weapons at lower tiers then us. Vol'drath was a step up from epic, but not nearly as good as mythical.After getting my mythical it has become alot easier to win individual fights and top the ZW. Don't get discouraged while your working your way to your mythical, it does get better.

Well this is awesome news! Ya know what I've always enjoyed about playing a Ranger is that you have the potential to do really great things but it's not just handed to you. There's alot of stuff to figure out to take your game to the next level. (Which I am not at yet!)

And it's not that I want to "beat Assassins". That's not what it's about at all. I just want to be on a fairly level playing field. Cuz it's a game and I like to compete! If Rangers were overpowered over Assassins, I probably wouldn't play one. Would be pretty damn boring!

Assassins really do suck, so nothing to worry about at high end!
