I'm planning on wearing 3 or 4 void shard set pieces but I'm not sure about what pieces to choose.

I'll definately wear 3 pieces of ravager's voidlink armour (gloves, coif, boots) for the set proc but I can't decide if I should take the ravager or soul lancer shoulders.

Here are the stats:

Ravager's voidlink spaulders
42 str, 20 sta, 15 agi
155 health, 100 power,
3da/3rda
2 critical mit
25 ca damage
8% base ca damage

Soul lancer
42 str, 25 sta, 15 wis
165 health, 90 power
3da
2 critical mit
25 ca and spell damage
8% base ca and spell damage

So it comes down to 3 rda vs 8% spell damage. AFAIK the spell damage affects procs and poisons. For me that will be 3 procs (fabled epic, void shard set proc, trueshot jewelery set proc) and caustic poison. The 3rda will affect the fabled epic. Which do you think is better for me?

+3 RDA beats out melee crit and DA and 8& spell damage. So really the only thing you are getting those other shoulders for is the 8% spell damage.

You could do that math but I am too lazy

well, yes voidlink is by far the obvious choice.

but 3rda ~ 3% increase in dps is an exaggeration at best.

it wont even increase your autoattack dps by 3%.

assuming you have a moderate amount of rda already, say 20 rda, if you add 3 more rda, thats only increasing your autoattack dps by ((123/120)-1)*100 percent, or 2.5%

and when you factor in that autoattack dps only does about 60% of your overall dps, the +3 rda only increases your dps by like 1.5%. but this is much more substantial than the .005% increase you would get from the +8% spell

With the fabled epic or pvp bow the autoattack is a bit less than 60%. so say 1.2%. My caustic is close to 10% IIRC which makes over all dps increase about 0.8% from the base spell damage (probably less in reality). Then if I'd get 3 more procs I thought it could be a pretty close call.

... assuming base spell damage affects procs and poison.

it really comes down to if u are at 100% rda in raids or not. When/if you get to that point, the spell damg will be better, but of course ud prolly be wearing the raid ones in raids, unless ur fighting a gimp mob, and the rest of your gear has enough crit mit.

For me 1 rda = 18 dps, and spell dmg is anything besides your cas and auto attack, meaning chimes, any procs you have, poisons. 8% increase in just the spell portion would be over 100dps for me.

i wear right now the basic (dont have enough shards to upgrade them all at once)
the shoulders boots gloves and the rest is vp. the proc off the gloves is averaging 150+dps on raids, but if you are useing the re2 set the goblin bane proc will no longer work
