Re: Ranger or Swashy PVP...
Rangers offer:
1. Snares: the key to our survival (which is assumed that many people want to nerf it, even though people run at very fast run speeds as it is.)
2. Hook Arrow: Prevent people from running away
3. Auto attack damage: It doesn't happen too often, but you can auto attack for 2k damage at end tier, and can also double attack as well. You can also auto attack at 0m ranged with your epic bow.
4. Procs: This goes with Ranged auto attack. Procs add up and it does help allot in pvp.
5. Evac spec: Can spec to evac faster and have a faster reuse. I don't spec this though
6. Defensive Specs: There are specs which you can increase your survivability. I max out at 50% mit and 64% avoidance right now with 171 aas at level 80.
7. Ranged: Right now I can max out to 54m range. Many people can't even cast that far.
8. Track (of course.)
Though there are some advantages to rangers, lets look at some of the disadvantages:
1. Ranged: This is both an advantage and a disadvantage. If we can maintain our ranged, we can be very frustrating to kill. However, if a class can get right into your face, you are screwed. You can only auto attack at 0m ranged and cast melee skills, which suck. Have to be at least 2m ranged for your ranged CA's.
2. Constant Nerfing. Rangers have always been nerfed. From hook arrow to focus aim and beyond. We are always threatened to be nerfed since the beginning of our class in pvp.
3. Unlucky auto attacks: This has happened to me alot. I usually get up to at least 1.5k damage on hit, but I can also hit only 500 damage, which sucks especially if they are green con and they run away at full run speed
4. Snares: It's a key to our survival, but don't rely too much on it. It breaks more often than you think, and since people been complaining about it, it's likely to be nerfed. (#2)
5. No other forms of CC: We don't get the stuns, stiffles, or roots that the other scouts get. Well other than snare and cheapshot, we also have a root that lasts for 4 seconds or less.
6. Survivability: We weren't meant to survive long in pvp. We were meant to quickly kill targets before they can reach us. Usually you have only a few seconds to kill someone before you're screwed, especially if they have a group flying in from somewhere.
Depends on your playstyle. If you like melee, stay on your swash. If you like being at ranged and having fun dealing with the shit ton of nerfs, then go ranger.
