Hawk Dive - Raid Advice

I'm curious about the effectivness of Hawk Dive, and if anyone has any insite into this ability. I will admit I don't use it very often, but now that I'm at the stage of fine-tuning every aspect of my ranger, I'm now at the point where I am revisiting this ability. So these are my questions:

1. In a raid setting, say, where you are placed in a group with NO tank, does it still reduce the members aggro in respect to the entire raid, and the raid MT?

2. Is it worth Mastering? Does the hawk just do more damage... or does it also reduce more aggro.

3. If ever placed in the MT group, can hawk dive work as a reliable aggro adjuster? or are other de-aggro abilities far superior (IE Assassins aggro share, ect ect)... basically how can I make it most effective?

Not sure about all the other stuff, but since it no longer breaks stealth each flipping time it attacks, I'd say that it is a nice little dps boost for as long as it is alive. As for the aggro thing, I know that it siphons the the hate from all non-fighters onto its self. Thing is, I haven't the slightest clue as to where that aggro goes once it dies/wears off.

Here's a little tid bit of info that I wonder how many people know about... Back in the EoF beta, this thing use to allow us to use our stealth skills without being in stealth for as long as it was active. Needless to say, it was not in this awesome form long before the devs do what they always do to us rangers and our arts, and took the biggest nerf bat they had to it.

if its up and u got nothing else to cast use it otherwise its completly useless lets say u use it and u magically actually lands all strikes u will do 3k4-5k damage tops on the full time the hawk was up so if u throw a ca with less casting time then it and do the same damage or more it is losing dps to use hawk dive and it will die all the time and even not casting it not even if u got nothing else up still just shit if u dont use hawk dive on a whole palace trash run u wont have missed more then 40dps zw u cant its impossible thats in the worse case the cenario which u would have been able to use it without dying with it hitting the mob for all the time it lasts.

anybody who says that is dumb not to keep it up all the time is overreacting.

as regards to the OP its pretty useless for a raid but better than nothing i guess, if it gives you a litle extra dps thats better than nothing... just.

The trouble is it either dies in a nano second from ae damage or doesnt hit the mobs most of the time if they con orange so its not syphoning any hate. Sometimes it just sits there looking at you so dunno why that happens. Maybe it needs feeding!

I certainly wouldnt count on it for deaggro. if you're getting aggro a lot then kick the tank up the ass.

Use it to get an extra 1dps from the fight but dont expect to drop off the hate list

And yet another near useless CA in the Ranger arsenal. Seriously, what was SOE thinking when they made Stream of shit, takes too long to cast shot and hawk dies a lot?

Is it just me, or where rangers the only ones that got this screwed on our ancient teaching spells? The only one that really does its job in all levels (or use to anyways) is our trap. I remember using it to root mobs in kos raids. Not sure if did any good, but it did at least work.

I took the hawk off my hotbar. Never cast it. If the tank is so bad you have to use the bird for hate siphoning, you have bigger problems than the hawk can fix.

Someone enlighten me if I'm way off here on this winged waste of space.

I always cast it on inc, then ranged auto, then crit debuff, then dot before I started my ranged CA order.

im similiar to gage on single targ encounters as i give it a lil before i actually dps
its like all defense parry debuffs and crit debuff hawk than dps takes like 2ish seconds and generally doesnt fuck with my parse by being dead on the floor
