Icon14 Ranged bonuses disparity on gear ...

Note: I also posted this over on the eq2 forums as well...

There is an large amount of gear that has bonuses to crit chance but ranged crit chance is either missing or lower then all the others. This applies to ranged bonuses in general as mentioned below:

A Perfect example is the elemental idols from Ward of elements. Here are a few more:

All WoE's Elemental Idol's - 2
Mistmoore's Cloak - 2
Prime Clasp of Sustenance - 2
Signet of Betrayal - 2
Ring of the Glade Protector - 5

Each of the above have a number after each that have all 3: Melee, Spell & Heal .... but no ranged.

On other pieces of equipment, the values are skewed. A prime example is on the Tier armor:

T2 Gloves - +2 Ranged/+3 Melee Double Attack Chance
T2 Boots - +3 Ranged/+4 Melee Double Attack Chance

Both of the above extend into T3 as well.

Taking a look at the difference between T3 Armor sets and T4 for Rangers:

T3:
Ranged Crit Chance: 16
Melee Crit Chance: 16
Ranged Double Attack Chance: 14
Melee Double Attack Chance: 16

T4:
Ranged Crit Chance: 22
Melee Crit Chance: 0
Ranged Double Attack Chance: 19
Melee Double Attack Chance: 0

So going from T3 to T4, you gain 6 Ranged Crit chance and 5 Ranged Double Attack Chance but lose 16 Melee Crit Chance and 16 Melee Double Attack Chance. For all nay sayers, yes rangers do use Melee Crit Chance for all their melee combat arts and could care less about the melee double attack chance since we should in theory, never use our melee weapons in combat.

I love my ranger, I just find it frustrating looking at gear and seeing a large number of item with melee bonuses and no ranged bonuses or if they do, less then the melee bonuses.

Get used to it. When the stat consolidation goes in, we are due for a massive nerf to keep us down. Since once the consolidation goes in they can't keep short changing us compared to our melee brothers.

It's kinda sad how halfassed you did that comparision, because
a) you did not consider, that the T3 set is predator (ranger AND assassin!) while the T4 is ranger only!
b) you only looked at 4 stats out of like 10 (ca dmg, ranged crit bonus, base ca damage, dps, haste, procs, ...)

Welcome to the world of a hybrid class (i.e. class that needs more than one type of crit, base damage and mod)

I do admit that the last half/comparison was halfassed. The main point I was originally looking at was the differences on gear between Melee/Ranged bonuses. The T3 & T4 stuff was an after thought that didn't get the attention that it deserved.

That being said, going from T3 -> T4 full set, you would gain 13 DPS & 50 CA dmg but lost a measly 3 Attack Speed.

Since I am at work right now, I have to ask.... The Sleeves, based on Eq2i wikia as well as eq2 zam have the sleeves as no longer having the Base CA damage increase on the T4 as the T3 did? Is that correct?

If it is, going from T3 to T4 full suit you would lose 12% Base Combat Art Damage? But then again, at 6 pieces including Head, chest and Legs you would have an extra 19% Crit bonus instead of Base CA damage.

Since the largest part of our damage is from Auto Attack and with full crits that means more the Base CA damage.

In conclusion, sorry for making the crappy comments about the T3 -> T4 comparison. It is interesting the differences between what you want/need once you get closer to 100% crit chance.

Awesome, thanks for the update. Due to the nature of those items changing, I will go and update eq2i.wikia.com with udpate stats when I get home so it reflects all the correct data for all 4 of our sets.

I have to apologize to everyone for my shortsightedness and lack of ensuring that my data was accurate.
