Default Re: What should I be parsing?

Parse below is from HoS tonight and includes deaths and the Venekor fight. For Venny everyone stays in melee range so of course my DPS goes down. I was in the mid 1600s zone wide before the Venekor fight.

For gear I have a mix of relic, EoF Legendary, MC's and EoF treasured but I do have Tarnix's Bow.

Gear can been seen here from EQ2Players.com

My current CA order is as follows (using AA for Auto Attack)

Open up with AA
Confounding Arrow
AA
Devitalizing Arrow
AA
~By this time Dispatch is up~
Focus Aim
AA
Triple Volley
AA
Culing the Weak
AA
Rain of Arrows
AA
Mortal Reminder
AA
Longblade --->Veiled Fire
AA
Vines
AA
Precise Shot

Mob is usually dead by the end of that. My bow CA's are Adept III with the exception of Veiled Fire, Rain of Arrows and Confounding Arrow which are Master I. My melee CA's are a mix of Adept III and Adept I.

Using GM Caustic Poison.

AA Lines are as follows...

KoS AGI and INT, EoF Double Arrow, Extension and working on putting 5 points into Caustic Poison in the poisoning lines.

Default Re: What should I be parsing?

Well after checking with a few other people who know what they're doing with ACT (I just have it installed) they said I was over 1800+ for the zone wide, 1816 to be exact.

But even still, I figure with the bow from Tarnix I should easily be doing over 2k. Maybe I'm just sucking it up as a Ranger or something.

Anyways, I'll always continue to work on getting Adept III's/M1 of my CAs and get out of my MC/Treasured gear.

Oh and thanks to those that have responded, I really appreciate it. I enjoy the Ranger class a lot and I just don't want to get replaced with another Ranger because my DPS is sub-par for a Ranger.

Try opening with Cover Fire then Mortal Reminder - the Defence debuff means everything that follows ought to connect, plus the DoT gets ticking iover early on for extra DPS. If you've got the poison DoT in your AA setup, stick that on too when you open, as that does some good numbers. All fights, keep MR going - as you can tell from your pie chart, whilst it's not massive, it does provide a reasonable chunk of DPS.

Longblade --> Rangers Blade is something that gets overlooked now and then... But by my calculations it's one of our highest DPS combos, because we can get it off so quickly. If you're in the sweet spot you can get that pair off without missing an auto attack. Does require some nifty finger work though to switch between melee and ranged arts smoothly.

Tarinax's bow (and the one from A Drake) are good as ammo providers, but really no great shakes on the actual DPS front. Ideally you'll want one of the following:

1. Ancestral Sarnak Warbow from Venekor: technically the easiest to obtain, since he's cake to kill, but an incredibly rare drop from his loot table. Only had 1 drop for my guild in a year.

2. Longbow of Corruption: Drops off Matron in Fallen Dynasty. You'll probably find the main HC raid guild on your server has her on lockdown though.

3. Star Darkened Longbow: From instanced Mayong, MMIS.

4. Rigid Scale Bow: Crafted recipe from Wuoshi, EH. Enough said. You need to be able to clear Emerald Halls to get this.

Well bows 2-4 are unattainable right now and will be for several months. I'm part of a raiding alliance that is currently doing all KoS content with some FTH/Chel'drak. Venny's bow is the one I'm really wanting to get but has not dropped for us yet, and then I do have some competition for it.

Right now I'm basically in the top 3 parsers for a given raid. In LoA the locks will get the best of me. But I'm hearing with even a decent bow and the ammo I have I should be doing over 2k in KoS zones.

I do get in that sweet spot that I can use my melee CA's and still have ranged. I'll start using the Ranger's Blade more and see how that goes for me and like you mentioned I'll start off with Cover Fire then Mortal Reminder.

Rhaz, I'd be curious on your group setup for that parse. I just got a Sarnak bow the other night, and I was underwhelmed with my parse in MMIS last night. The only buff I had however was a coercer dps buff. It seems like my best group combo so far has been with a dirge and illusionist in my group.

Illusory Arm does wonders. When you're auto attacking for 8 - 10K and doubling, you'll see your DPS rocket. I know I did.

Personally I think it's a toss up between a Dirge / Illusionist. I seem to parse higher with a Dirge then when I have an Illusionist. I love IA but Luck of the Dirge makes me proc like crazy and tends to give more consistent high parses.

In a dream world it's great to have both and the few times I've had that my parses have been off the hook. But most times there's only one Illusionist and he's stacked in with the Troub and other casters plus myself or another scout to make use of IA.

For myself though I definitely try and get into the Dirge group first.

Or just get an ex Fable recruit to lie and cheat someone into making the bow and give it to you. Ring any bells?

A case of an unscrupulous, money-grabbing player telling me one thing, telling Diji's guild another, and scurrying away with a large amount of plat. We've now worked out what went on and aren't happy with the middleman.

Lesson here is that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is. :/
