Well I have noticed on VERY far pulls like in chardok high up (if you can get a line of sight- since they fooked up amazing shot-) beside spy, SoA has a nice range on it. Maybe its a bug but if we have a long pull and no pet I sllap SoA and then click it off asap and most often can get a snaring type shot in too. Never us it in raids because it seems to drop my dps about 700 less then my normal if i us it the full duration.

Might just be me, but it's almost worth using on orange con mobs - the hit rate is better than auto... :/

Mostly because CA to hit > auto-attack to hit. For whatever reason.

Sometimes you can hit on all cylinders with orange mobs, othertimes you miss like crazy. It's absurd at times. But generally I could not compete with the mages in my guild. Well..the ones that knew how to play their classes at least heh.

I know. Maybe the whole 'orange con' nonsense is just a ploy to get us to use Stream again. :P

Tested this skill with Marksman (PVP bow). Ran a few parses with using only this skill when it was up +autoattack when it went down vs another test of using only autoattack the whole fight.

Autoattack only always won. With my haste i can fill in 2 CAs between my autoattacks. During raids the difference is even more noticible because I get huge dps boost buffs (only affect autoattack), i get ranged DA buffs, i get proc increases (poison/offensive stance).
To throw some numbers out there, I had my autoattack hit as high as 10k on raids. Factor in the poison proc, a chance that it was a double attack, and quick shot proc - we're looking at a 12-20k hit. 9s bow with perma haste that I have it's coming at about 4.2s delay (forget the exact number).

So yeah, totally useless skill from my perspective. Only useful for newbie rangers as far as I'm aware.

Perfect for me then .

I do agree that this CA is pretty much worthless to throw into normal rotation. However when we are fighting a raid mob that stuns, stiffles, fears, etc. and somone is on a timer, I hit it right before AoE hits and it fires off through such things (pawbuster's nasty stun/stiffle for example). So it may be of use while you wait for cure or for AoE effect to wear off. As soon as I can attack again I turn it off but I believe this to be effective as it can fill a spot with dps that you might otherwise not be attacking at all (auto attack doesn't always seem to fire off during stun/fear/stiffle). Further, you can cast focus aim during SoA without interupting it to bump the dps up a bit.

I know I'm missing something very important here and I don't proclaim anything above noob status as a ranger, but I would like to hear what you uber cats have to say about this.

PvE speaking, you are absolutely right. However in pvp it has great use, with the AA points in it, the ability fires off nearly every second, alot of times we rangers go thru our range CAs in pvp and the target has a little health left, specially if they are a caster or healer type, and alot of times we do not wish to move in close for melee, so activating it, not only keeps a decent stream of dps running while you refresh a few more range CAs, but it also keep casters/healers interrupted while doing so ! Auto attack surely does more damage speaking dps wise, but in pvp sometimes its beneficial to lose a little dps and in return hit quicker to keep interrupts going.

Horrible to use in pvp. You have a much better chance of detaunting and staying out of their range than becoming a stationary target.

i have master stream just dropped one day in a raid so i took it..

However on vp mobs you'd do better to auto and melee.. stream is useless. There was a time back in EOF it was considered a good filler i.e click stream let it hit twice then back to auto but now with raid wide chime i'll be meleeing if Ranged ca's are down. Even though i hate meleeing.
