The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
What the hell is wrong with you people? If I did my job with the same degree of incompetence and neglect, I would not have a job! Three times you had to bring the servers down today... THREE times! Once to push an update that was bugged on test and was reported to you. You pushed it to live anyway. Then for three hours the servers were allowed to run borked, I didn't realize they were. I spent the morning doing quest updates. Lost it all in the rollback. Logged in after the servers came up from in excess of four hours of downtime, redid a good portion of what I lost... and the servers are brought down again, because apparently you fucked something else up that has the potential to damage the game economy. We canceled our guild raid because nobody wants to spend the time and get a drop only to possibly lose it if there is another rollback.
And seriously, what braintrust decided to fuck with shit before a holiday weekend? You all are hereby nominated for retard of the century.

Re: The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
These bugs they pushed live were EXTREMELY OBVIOUS on test last night. Since they were put live, i think its safe to assume that not ONE person in the entire sony online roster bothered to see that the game was horrendously broken. I mean, we realized it after 10 seconds of being on test. GG

Re: The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
The major thing I can agree on is pushing a patch on Friday right before Labor Day weekend. Should have just rebooted the servers for the weekend, left early for the day and let em run

Which is why I wouldn't even be surprised if multiple people canceled their accounts over this. To let such an obvious fuck up like this get PAST test servers, and then to have the events of today unfold, it just shows how incompetent SOE's staff is. Granted mistakes can and will be made, but this is just fucking ridiculous.
I mean why the fuck should you have test servers if your not gonna use them.

Re: The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
Exactly Snark, why do people on Test bother to Test if SOE is just going to fucking ignore the feedback anyway? People lost loot they won, people lost updates they spent a lot of time on, one of my guildies lost sales he made... he got the items back, and maybe the same person will come back and buy them again, but he is currently out 30p from those sales this morning between resets.
I took the day off from work today to work on my SOD quest line, I rarely ever take a day off. I knew the damn uncommon updates and spawn times in New Tunaria would take a good deal of time to get. When I play for 3-4 hours straight, it is to raid, not do pointless quest time sinks. To lose the updates not once, but TWICE, infuriates me.
I hope the folks who fucked this up get to spend all weekend fixing it and don't get to enjoy a single moment of relaxation... just payback for wasting my time.

Re: The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
I love playing the devil's advocate but I have to completely agree... the staff has done a lot of really great things with the game but this is a pretty bad fuckup, which hopefully will be fixed when servers come up... for the third time.

Re: The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
At the very least Gnobrin is letting us know that SOE is aware of what's going on. Would have loved an in-game message if the servers were brought down intentionally though.
Unscheduled fix: Friday, August 31st, 2007

Re: The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
This seems to be a constant with SOE. Downtime, patches, extended server resets on major holiday weekends. I hope in the future they can take a look back and see how bad their track record is for Holiday weekend updates. Anyone remember 2 years ago at X-mas when servers were down for 3 days? That had to be the worse fumble they have had. This is coming in a close second.
Though this is very aggrivating, sadly I've become used to this type of Holiday service. I would like to know....
SOE, who makes the decisions on updating or adding content in this constant pattern effecting Major Holiday weekends?
BTW : I agree with Nova 100%

Re: The Entire SOE EQ2 Staff
There actually was an in game message... least on CB there was. It spammed both my BF's computer and mine three times (in two minutes) in each chat box. It was a 5 minute warning, I believe it was 12:01 PM CST that they sent the first message, which triggered twice (spam !) and then again at 12:02. That's when I logged out. The statement said servers would be going down for a brief update. My issue was NOT the fact that they took the servers down, or how long they were down... but WHY THE FUCK DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO TAKE THEM DOWN? I wasn't awake when the patch was done but I would assume servers came back up from the intended patch this morning anywhere between 9:30 CST and 10 or so, which is normal. The issues were well known pretty immediately after the servers came up... the servers shouldn't have been up for the two hours they were. Just like they took them down after a few minutes of being back up again a little while ago, the same thing should have happened this morning.
