Re: Beastlord Fanbois
The thing with beastlords was not many raiding guilds needed more than one, maybe two, because they weren't top dps, and one MGB of their kitty crack was all that was needed. But in a group or solo, these guys were kings.
No slower? Invite a beastlord! Get a slow almost as good as a shaman, and get tons more dps!
No chanter or bard for power regen? Get a beastlord! They had "kitty crack" which was a lesser version of both bard and chanter regen (and stacked with both).
Low on DPS? Grab a Beastlord! While not top knotch, they did their fair share of damage.
No tank? Grab a beastlord! If the BL himself didn't tank, the pets were great agro control and could take a hit.
Solo, these guys could tank, had pet dps that rivaled mages and necro pets, could heal only slightly worse than a shaman but better than a pally, and could pretty much solo in areas that most people required a duo or trio, and possibly do it faster than the duo depending what combo of classes. I know they could solo faster than my pally/chanter combo if my chanter wasn't charming, simply because we just did not have the dps lol.
So yeah, on a raid level, they weren't required and I was never in a guild that had more than 2, but on a group and ESPECIALLY on a solo level, these guys were unstoppable. They singlehandedly unseated mages and necros as the best soloers. They could hit level cap in a couple months without ever having grouped.
Oh yeah, and on a raid, it was ridiculously easy to play a BL. I was at a friends house and he let me play his BL on a raid while he slept. His instructions: "Assist, send pet with this button, turn attack on and hit this button over and over." There was no need for BL debuffs, as shamans were better. Aside from the MGB of kitty crack every couple of hours, there was nothing else that was needed of a BL other than their pet and auto attack.
