Probably should have waited before he went ahead with submitting a petition to get the other side of the story.

That said, on Tikk's side... regardless of Echo and Rell's conversation, you have to know you're sticking your toes in hot water to make any name that has a religious or political connotation to it. Surely I can't be the only one that would expect to get it in the neck? Banning maybe not, but attention from folks I'd rather have leave me alone, definitely.


Is this an actual banning in the sense of: you ain't comin back ...evahhhhhh! Or was it a suspension?

If it's the first, that's a bit extreme, and I think even if Fezik is blowing smoke up arses, I doubt he meant it to go *that* far.

Are you accusing *me* of attention whoring? Because I'm trying to see both sides of the situation, not having any particular attachment to either the "right" or "wrong" of it. I'm saying I can see how that would get you in trouble - it doesn't surprise me, regardless of what his motives are or what the joke was. I don't know Tikk, or have anything against him - I don't particularly care if people like or hate him. I'm saying I can see how someone walking by would not have any context whatsoever to discern it's a joke, whether towards someone else or at his own expense.

If I said "all athiests are dimwitted fucknuts" I'm sure athiests would take offense, even if I was one and poking fun at myself - I'm thinkin someone would miss the joke/tongue in cheek/sarcasm of it.

We've had people leave the guild because they missed the punchline of a joke - one guy, after a mentoring run, jokingly offered PL services in guild chat, some guy went "OMG BOT GUILD!" and quit. LOL

I'm not saying it's right or agreeing with it, but there are people out there that'll be offended over damned near anything. Unfortunately when it comes to religion, they can get a bit of a leg up because companies are cautious of enraging large groups of religious types. At least, to my perspective.

As for you attention whoring? Only if you are attempting to play the devil's advocate for this, it is indefensible and everyone knows it. The only reason to do so is to draw attention.

Looking at it objectively is not playing "devil's advocate" - like I said, I have no attachment one way or the other to defend either side. I've said: I can see how banning was over-reaction and on Fezik's part he could have waited for a response before sending off his complaint...I can also see how a random passerby might take offense. Hell, people take offense to everything - remember the thread about the guy who quit a group pissed off because someone said "Jesus christ"?
