I wonder how many /tells and petition alerts he was getting during that time. Or perhaps, like many police officers, he was asking again and again waiting for a variance in the telling to alert him to shennanigans.

The cool was kept in game, but i wish we had recorded the vent session that accompanied "the encounter". It was so rediculous that it was humorous, yet at the same time insanely frustrating. In the end i'd had enough and humped him into next week so all is well in my world.

I dont see how giving volunteering players the ability to play GM's and "reimburse" items (among other things) could work out. Best they can do is recruit people not connected to the game, as cheap as possible of course. At least I hope they are cheap, they better be!

And as for him trying... I think he was trying to help, and very well may be that he was an overseas GM who was attempting to help and didn't know english well.... but if the petition is in english then damn SOE .... send a GM who speaks fucking english.
