I ran into this same GM on Nagafen.

I have screenshots, but am only going to post them if necessary.

Basically he opened up with "I have a complaint regarding you.", followed by "That you are charming in wrong manner.". Things like that, always with a 5-10 minute delay in messages.

He finally said "You can use your spell but please don't use to kill other players."

Randomly after that he introduced himself as GM Estick.

Anyways, long story short is he ended up apologizing and told me that using my charmed pet to kill people wasn't against the rules. Funny conversation though if I ever feel like uploading it.

im guessing since everyone wanted to go to bed, it was late in the evening US time? Could it be possible that this was one of the GMs for their foreign language servers, and was the only person on hand to help out?

thats really the only way i'd understand them having someone with such poor english working CS.

I have gotten an farmer sounding GM response before (wish I had saved a copy of it) and it was like 7pm est. I think SOE went with the mentality that, if you can't beat em, join em, and hired a ton of farmers to be GM's.

And SoE wouldn't be the first company to outsource their customer service to non english speaking workers. 90% of the time when I try to call a customer service type number I get some jackoff with a super thick accent that speaks half in english and half in another language because he doesn't know enough english to stay in the one language and it takes 20 mins to say hello and have them actually understand it.

I've always thought that GM's sounds like programs when they talk with you... that might be because they have like a set of two hundred standard phrases to use, which they just copy paste.

This is what I have suspected for a long time. At the very least plat sellers are condoned. Why else would they implement a SPAM FILTER function, rather than prevent the SPAM in the first place.

And thats not the only evidence of their underhanded money Schemes, LON SPAM proves they promote marketing in-game..all they require is a cut of the money.

Hell idk, considering how they shove unpolished products out the door because of worries of cuts in thier profit suggests they aren't concerned too much about in game satisfaction unless its clearly loosing them money. It all comes down to decision analysis resolution and risk assessment.

So in other words, if they can afford to take a substantial share in the plat selling business without cutting into thier subscription numbers, I could see them selling out to the plat sellers. The $$ profit gained by working with plat sellers could have been levied against loss of subscriptions and the profit beat out the subscription loss. Not caving in and making money where they can would be a bad business decision. Letting people know about it would be a worse one of course.

Nah they work three shifts..there's english GMs available 24/7, but everything goes into a queue and even the non english ones respond to english petitions if they are available and can do the job.

I met this wonderful older american lady who was hired to be the german speaking GM for another mmorpg because she could read and write german fluently, but she had never played an mmo in her life. They had her play the game on several classes at many levels to learn it, and learn things like American and German l33t, etc, before they had her actually GM. Makes sense that playing and understanding the 'language' of the game you GM for should be mandatory.

(And when I say 'language of the game' I'm talking about things that people playing the game would speak of that pertain to the game itself, like understanding what it means when someone says "the named for the BBC in SH wont respawn')
