Ok, merely found this thread out of sheer boredom, and replying for sadly the same reason.

I often think what many people have on their sigs on various sites are pathetic and stupid too (just not the kind mentioned here). However, I am sure there are people who may think the same of some of my sigs I've had in the past on different forums.

That being said, using the "I didn't have to read the signature, you don't have to read the thread" line doesn't really work. First off, a sig, no matter how big, is miniscule to the amount of space a thread takes up, and how much attention it gets, (even this one). Second, they serve two completely different purposes. If you post a thread with a header that caught somebody's eye, can you really chastise them for taking an interest in something you wrote, knowing they had to open the link to read it without knowing what they were getting into? That goes for the people giving negative replies as well. That's pretty much the whole concept of this site... taking the positive feedback with the negative, because you never know how people will perceive it.

And third:

4. New threads in this section *must* name the person being flamed in the title of the thread. No "general" posts are allowed in this section

...as per LFG in the Sticky for this section of the forums.
