Five years ago, I got divorced. In the property settlement terminating my marriage, I gave my ex-wife everything I owned, literally, except for some clothing, for the sole condition that she would never attempt to communicate with me again in any way. That included a 3 bedroom home in the San Francisco Bay Area, a few vehicles, 401k funds, and other assets valued in the mid to high six figures. I walked away from that situation and into a furnished, pay by the week hotel until I saved up some money and got myself together again.

And the reason I did that is because I value the feeling of liberty and self respect more than money and assets. The same ideas apply here and in every other part of my life. I do not have a price, I have principles. I regularly turn down business opportunities and do not sell products to people in business if I don't like them or think they are bad people.

So I think you need to change your claim to "most, but not all, people have a price."

About why I made this post and left the site and contact info in: To me, getting that offer was like opening a store and framing the first dollar from a customer. I didn't make a dollar in this case, but I did think about it before making this post. And I decided that editing out the site and contact info, to me, would be like whiting out the picture of George Washington on that dollar.

I dont know you in any other capacity than a really decent admin, and Im pretty sure you wouldn't sell this site out for anything. And, eventhough my comment was over-generalised and cynical, I stand by it. I know it sounds good to say "I can't be bought." Everyone likes the feeling of self-actualization, but when it comes down to it, depending on the context and circumstances of course, people will do anything if they want something bad enough. This extends past money and material possesions and all that. Your divorce, for example: You gave your estate for your freedom. As noble as that sounds, it is exactly what I'm talking about. Obviously, some people are more convicted than others, but that doesn't mean they don't have a price. And shame on you for making me defend such a silly comment. ><

Now with all that being said, I have some coke, a camera, and 10 million dollars cash in my trunk...I just want to talk...=p
