I would like to point out that before I was subject to the NDA, I received a misdirected email from SOE with amazingly detailed information about subscription numbers to SOE games, including EQ2.

That email was apparently sent based on someone's colossal fuckup.

I deleted that email after reading it, because I knew it was not intended to be sent to me, and also because I knew that it wouldn't be right to use that information in any way. I'll still never disclose what was in that email, even though I destroyed it, and merely retained mental impressions of it.

That decision was a no brainer, and I didn't even need to consider my education in philosophy and the law to make it.

I've never ever wanted to harm SOE. All I've wanted to do is help force them to operate in the world of reality and to try and help them make this game successful.

The Site Rules were always intended to be interpreted with common sense.

Nobody's home address or phone number has been posted, and I wouldn't allow that.

Google each and every name in the list Snark posted and you will find that person publicly identified as an SOE employee.

Do you want to know the email address of ANY SOE employee?

Simply combine their first intial and last name and add @soe.sony.com.

There is no dark mystery or public disclosure of private information here. Snark compiled all this information based on publicly available information, what the devs themselves disclosed to players who weren't subject to any NDA, and based on his ability to take the first initial of a person and put it in front of their last name and add SOE's domain name to that.

Snark is kind of smart that way, which is more than I can say for people crying that there is any violation of this Site's Rules in what he posted.

I keep getting tells and mail about how I need to seek legal representation. I did nothing wrong - my intent was to show Brenlo that EQ2Flames -has- been cooperative and that it could certainly be a lot worse. And since many developers have confronted me with these developing problems I know this to be true. EQ2Flames is a very influential and powerful community, on what other fan site could you make a thread that could lead to someone losing their job? We need to seek a compromise and work together for the good of the game to be achieved.

SOE didn't even try to send one of those scare tactic undergrad law school wannabe legal mad lib sheets, which I kindof expected to receive.

Vaeamdar, I think you kinda misunderstood what the whole thing was about....

Cause a dev giving his guild strategies wasn't the only thing to it. Not by a longshot. It was a long history of raiding dev retardism coupled with the severing of ties with forums and basically an attempt to outright ignore two entire communities:

1. Raiders.
2. EQ2Flames posters.

One dev being exposed for leaking strats was just a side effect. But you know what? I honestly do condone this action. Why? Because half the fucking raids in ROK would be near impossible to figure out without a fucking dev giving you hints. I mean, seriously, for some of the avatars? Without someone dropping hints, are people seriously going to figure out that you have to be moving around CONSTANTLY in order not to die?

The raids aren't fun. They're fucking ridiculous. They act like they want to drive all of the above two communities away with their actions. That's what all the drama was about. The one dev being outed had nothing to do with it, and I personally do not hold his actions of leaking strats against him, because ROK raids are fucking stupid.

Well, I will concede that the lower tier ones are fun, excluding Venril Sathir. Overking and Leviathan are my favorites. VS, and pretty much all of VP except for like Ekron aren't fun. Cluzen's ok I guess, but easy.

Giving out strat tips is one thing, but IF (I emphisize IF for those people who like to jump to conclusions and say I'm pointing a finger) these are more then tips and rather a full walkthru, and IF said strats are given out to a select few, and IF said strats allow you to world wide first a "special" mob, and IF killing said mob gets someone in the raid a ONE TIME mythical drop along with potentially getting your guild put into EQ2 Lore forever and ever. Well, I'll leave it at that.

All I know is the Hardcore Raiding community is all about not just killing the toughest of the tough, but doing it first. There are a lot of raiders out there that deserve some lime light for there achievments, but unfortunatly they get overlooked because of the so called "elite" raiding guild's pwning shit first.

IF the accusations of leaked strats hold true and IF any of these strats resulted in world wide firsting a mob, server firsting a mob etc. I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to castrate some people.

It's like training your whole life for the olympics to end up getting a silver because the other guy blew all the judges so he could get the gold.

To a hard core raider, firsting a mob is just as important to them as an olympic gold is to an athelete.
