Default The Permanent Multi-Account/Haxor Post

I figured I would reduce the number of posts I make in this forum by just starting one and adding to it everytime the system notifies me of someone trying to register a second account.

To be clear, there are legitimate reasons why someone might log onto or register an account from the same physical computer used by another user. My system is more sophisticated than just checking IPs, it uses a cookie and gives me automatic notice when someone registers a user name from the same physical computer that was used to register a previous user name.

The reason we don't want to allow this is because of the massive trouble that is created by anonymous users. As explained in the Site Rules, anonymous posting is allowed, but no person is allowed to register more than one account on this site, period. That prevents the worst stupidity by anonymous users, which comes from people who want to post as upstanding citizens on one hand, but as destructive anonymous posters on the other.

So in the future, when I catch these people, I'm just going to post the information in a reply to this thread.

If your name shows up in this thread, I will take your word for it if you claim that the other user is not the same person as you, and that you are sharing a comp or whatever.

I really don't want to know your personal info, and don't care whether the other person is a wife, girlfriend, roommate, sibling, or the gay B&D slave that lives in your closet. Just either post a reply or send me a PM, and we're cool. But if you had send me a PM first, the notice would have never been posted, so don't get mad at me if I post after you fail to notify me in advance.

Tayem Emoen is trying to register a new account. His/her other logins are: Tayem .
You need to send me a PM explaining this within 24 hours, or I'm merging your accounts and deleting one of them.

Thanks

This one has been resolved, your Emoen account has been manually enabled. You can post.

Thanks

Nothing makes me angrier than people who try and register not just two, but three or more accounts:

Quote:
New: unbeknown Other: unbeknown,Rillix,Tanshyu [IP] unbeknown is trying to register a new account with the IP: xxxxxxxxxxx
Other users that have the same IP address are: unbeknown , Rillix , Tanshyu
Stop this now, read the site rules, and tell me which of the three accounts you don't want deleted.

IF you were all using the same computer, it would. But it shouldn't pick up if you were running the three computers through a router before going out to your ISP.

You still only get 1 IP address from your ISP. A router assigns unique local IP addresses to each computer, but essentially these computers still have the same identity on the internet. Otherwise, millions of people would have the IP address 192.168.1.100 ;) Saying that going through a router doesn't use the same IP assigned by the ISP is like saying your ISP gives you unique IP addresses for each computer you own. It's also like saying if you were hacking into the CIA database on your friend's laptop in your own home, they wouldn't know it was you, they would think it was your friend.

Depending on how the trace is set, they could. Just like depending on how the IP log on this site is set, it could track to individual machines.
