"It worked fine for ME, therefore there is no problem."
You post about a problem/bug: X seems to be acting funny/bugged/borked/there's a problem with it
Like someone just rang the demon dinner gong, swarms of little gremlins pop up to inform you that it's working just fine for them and therefore, there is no problem.
Poster:
"The loot tables are bugged to heck! Every chest we've had in the last week, anywhere we go, has had an Adamantine Doomhammer in it... "
Gremlin 1:
"It's not a guarantee you'll get a drop at all! You're lucky to get ANYTHING!"
Gremlin 2:
"Well me and my guild got a coercer hat yesterday, it's fine."
...
Rhetorical Question time:
Is it a consuming and perverse need to be an arguementative pain in the fuckin ass that inspires people to just step into a thread and contradict for the sake of saying "nu UH!"? Isn't there better entertainment out there than starting the "no it's not" arguement? Why waste 10 minutes to hunt & peck out the "nu uh" and hit "send" when you could go hide under your superman sheets and wank to Lara Croft's picture in half the time?
I watch this on the main forums and wonder what these people are like in RL:
Friend: "I found a finger in my french fries last week at a truck stop!"
Normal response: *goes off to puke*
Gremlin response: "Well I had fries there yesterday and they were fine!"
Gremlin #2's response: "There's a 40% chance all foods will have a foreign body. Stop complaining, this is the price we pay for eating!"
Friend: *pulls out finger, puts it on Gremlin's plate* "I saved the finger, just for you."
Friend: "damn, there's a recall on my tires."
Gremlin: "Well my truck has Firestone tires and I've never had a problem..."
Friend: "so speaking of cars, when are you taking that road trip to the Grand Canyon...soon?"

The correct answer is: "I don't have this problem" or "nu uh"
Also, hot pockets are the devil.

Couldn't be any chance that the OP is wrong, and there is no bug, nu uh.

Re: "It worked fine for ME, therefore there is no problem."
The rant wasn't about people correcting geniune mistakes, it's about people who dissent just for the sake of dissenting.
My ego isn't so tied to the game that I get bent out of shape when I'm corrected. I make plenty of mistakes, though generally, if I'm wrong, I do like to know why so I can learn from it.
The rant was sparked by reading an older thread earlier today in which the OP brought up a problem they were having, a person replied with the typical "well I'm having no problem!" and it's since been patched. There clearly *was* a problem, the person was voicing a legitimate complaint, the dissenter was just being a friggin pain in the ass instead of taking a minute to ask why the OP thought there was an issue, or where, or what might be different between his situation and the OP's.
There's often a good chance both sides are right - but a knee jerk "nu uh" does nothing to clarify this. It just argues for the sake of argueing and one upping some guy on the internet who is (and I'm leaving out the whole "whiner" factor) generally just trying to find help with a problem they're having.
I posted recently about the hibernation AA being bugged. It was not proccing early for me all night between groups and a raid. I'd just put 5 points in it, I wasn't happy. I posted about it on the forums. I got the "well it works fine for me, I see it go off all the time." That doesn't do anything at all to help explain why it's not working for me, or any wierd factors about the spell that might make it SEEM to not work.
I posted a parse that showed a group member dying just before hibernation procced on the rest of the group - it did not proc early on this person who obviously dropped below 10% health. It's not clear whether it only procs for that person who is dropping below 10%, or the whole group when one person drops, etc. If it's supposed to proc for the whole group, then that's bugged as well since it went off 5 seconds after the other person died, and therefore 5 seconds after a group member dropped below 10% health.
If it's only supposed to proc on the one person (which I suspect it is, since it is a group cast but an individual spell for each person in range rather than a general "group" spell), then that part isn't borked, but we still have the issue of the group member dying and it not proccing before they died.
Someone else came in later and posted a couple suggestions as to why it may not have been proccing - the person who died getting thumped with too big of a hit for it to proc fast enough, or, the person being under 10% before hibernation was cast. Neither of these things are clarified as stipulations for it to not go off in the spell description, but it sure as hell wouldn't be the only case & these are plausible explanations. I was glad that this person took the time to think about it and offer their input.
Since then, I've noticed it proc early a couple times, but not consistantly - so it may be that the second person is right on the money. I accept the concept that I might be wrong (in some cases, I hope I am!), but particularily value the effort put into explaining why this is the case. This educates me. "nu uh" doesn't do jack squat for anyone but the other guy's inner gremlin that just HAS to argue.
