Some of you are either 12 years old or severely mentally handicapped. I agree this GM could have dealt with the OP in a more pleasant way, but seriously people. It seems some of you have some really misinformed ideas like...
- GMs make up the rules
- GMs are not doing their job unless they are giving you something.
- GMs are developers and can just fix the game for you
- You are entitled to anything you want cause you pay a monthly fee
First, its “in-game customer service” so these people don't make up the rules, they enforce and communicate them. In sign language that means, SOE tells GMs “Don't reset zone timers for this zone because it can be exploited.” Then the GM says “Sorry, we can't reset the zone timer for you” (regardless of their ability to do it). I assume it takes 2 seconds to reset your zone timer as opposed to 5 min. listening to you cry about having your request denied. If they had a choice, it is very likely they would reset your timer just so they don't have to deal with you. Evidence suggests the OP's petition was answered correctly and because he didn't get the answer he wanted, he thought he could bully or bargain his way into a new instance.
Second, I have seen people cry about having their ebay plats taken away and bitch about the plat farmers/spammers in other posts. Those people should be banned for attempting to screw up the server economy and for not knowing how to play a game without cheating. Unfortunately it seems SOE is desperate enough to keep these people in the game. In which case you are lucky all that was removed was your plat and thank whatever God you pray to that I am not a GM or rule maker for EQ2. The GMs in any game exist to enforce the rules. If the rules state they can give back items that you sold, deleted, or forgot to freaking roll on, then I am sure (again) that is a shorter process that they are happy to go through in comparison to the 12 hours of crying and demands to talk to their supervisor (who is just going to tell you the same thing). If a GM says no, I am pretty positive it is not because the gaming company gives out rewards for the GM who spent the most time making a player angry. Any emo turd that thinks a business thrives from making their customers sad needs to stop eating black nail polish.
Third, lets pretend your lock out timer issue was a bug (in stead of you just being too impatient to wait through an annoying game mechanic). GMs don't fix the game, and they only offer alternatives when they are available. This is probably why you heard that a GM did something for someone else but not for you. Its not cause your character is ugly (which it probably is), its because you are unlucky and bumped into a problem that a GM cant fix for you..... Have a cookie.
Fourth, and this is the real kicker. Guess what folks, read the agreement you sign every time you log into any MMO on the market today. You are only renting access to the characters you play, and Blizzard, SOE, NCSoft, etc has the right to do whatever they want to the rules, world, and accounts at any time. You are entitled to nothing beyond your own computer. So hate on the companies for the rules, or the developers for the game mechanics, or even the rude GMs for not dealing with your 2 year old tantrum like an adult. But quit treating customer service people like you know what their job is. Sometimes life just says no, deal with it.
