Default GM Hightower - SOE CS rep

First let me appologize and state that this is my first flame, and I obviously am not very good at it...but this GM is a total idiot and a fuckin liar. I can't stand people who are self-righteous when they are obviously in the wrong.

I want to make it clear that what is in this flame impacts EVERY guild in the game, and its plainly clear that SOE doesn't give a fuck how it might screw their players. Our guild began clearing the trash mobs in SoH on an easy raid day and then for the next 4 days hit different zones other then SoH. I was not in the initial raid when the guild went into the zone, but was there on the fifth day when we cleared more named in the instance.

It was at this point that I got a 5 day lockout timer, as did a few others in my guild. Now the guild has the raid planned again for tonight and I cannot enter the instance (even though the old one was expired) because of my lockout timer.

I petitioned SoE and got the wonderful GM Hightower who not only (as the screenshots prove) is a liar, but also an idiot. He came to talk to me to tell me that I was not being penalized, and yet I obviously was being penalized because I couldn't go on a raid with my guild that evening.

GM Hightower stated "(GM's) do not reset timers" and yet when I told him a GM reset one of my guildies timers he disappeared. After about 10 minutes he said that he talked to the GM and that the GM who reset the timer was in the wrong.

After a long and very funny conversation with the idiot (during which I was amazingly nice to him even though he was being stupid) he tried to explain that while he had all kinds of godly powers in the game, he couldn't use them because it would be unfair. This is fuckin stupid. Why would you come tell a player they are not getting screwed by SoE...only to have that player plainly state WHY they were being screwed...and then hide behind a wall of semantics.

Persistent zone timers are fucked beyond all reasoning and difficult to use. I hope everyone clears zones in a back to back manner because otherwise you are fucked now.

Pretty retarded. The fact the GM compared unlocking timers to giving people 10000 plat or granting everyone mythicals blows my mind. But yeah SoE does not like customers. I mean this is like the equivalent of what, giving a guy a free medium fries cause he claims the first ones were total shit? He could have just satisfied the customer and nothing out of the norm would have occurred, lol.

And My page cut off right when he asked if he should add 10000 plat to your account. I was hoping to scroll down and see you say "yeah."

Let me down man. =/

That GM definitely came off as 'high and mighty' and mildly retarded. Reminds me of an old coworker of mine in fact. But anywho... I *have* heard of GMs resetting timers for people if the instance bugged. If I understand what you said, though, about the actual situation, was that everyone else in your raid force had already started the instance and killed a named, thus gotten the full lockout set. You then zoned in and killed trash, then killed a name, thus causing YOUR lockout timer to be set, except for a start date that occured after your guildies. If that is what happened, then it is indeed working as intended, as the GM said, and they rightfully refused to reset the instance for you. Doesn't excuse their attitude, but unfortunately 99% of people that work in customer service, have no customer service skills. After dealing with customer service from another gaming company, the level of SoE CS is pretty impressive (not in a good way).

Couple of questions regarding Shard of Hate. Do you get locked out of the zone or locked out from killing a mob again for 5 days? Were you petitioning a bug or trying to get your timers reset so it matched up with other people? I'm not flaming I'm just trying to understand the issue better, I don't play eq2 a lot but I do raid in eq.

In EQ1 we have timers for raids that are counted per mob in instanced zones. Say we're doing a raid in a zone with 5 loot targets, kill 1 mob its locked out for 5 days. Next night kill 3 mobs, and get lock outs per mob not per instance. Finish out the next night with the last mob in the instance. Is this how eq2 raids work or is it a lockout from the whole zone from killing a certain named?

Why would you need your timers reset? Sorry, if I'm coming across as a newb, but to the raid game and instanced content in eq2 I am. As I play very casually in this game so just trying to understand the issue as a whole. If its not a bug then I can understand his stance and just because one GM did it doesn't mean its what is supposed to be done. If it was a bug he handled it wrong and I would bug report it and petition again so the Coding Teams and Devs are aware of the problem, so its less likely to effect you the same way next time and maybe you'll have more success in another petition should the situation arise again.

Yes, he did come across as snarky and high and mighty but I've dealt with much worse in other games.

Didn't some guild get a Dominus respawned for them because someone was "exploiting" it? Surely resetting a timer because of a bug is at least on par with that.

The thing is, they don't care. No reason to.
