Just to be a raging nit pickity bitch and hopefully make a point about how incredibly ridiculous it is to BE a raging nit pickity bitch...

Ship said that Dar kicked some ass in this thread.

He didn't say that Dar kicked anybody in particular's ass or that he got the better of a fight or argument.

He complimented his post because he liked it.

Kick ass has a couple of different connotations, however lacking any sort of definite article or pronoun to make it into a case of kicking a specific ass and thereby coming out on top in some sort of conflict, the entire argument is moot since what he said isn't what is being argued.
