I started it as a 3 day poll, the longer it remains open, the worse the idea will look, and I'm ok with that. The ultimate benefit really is that the next time someone sends me a PM asking if we can just take a vote to ban someone (this happens about once a week), I'll be able to just link to this post.

Every negative seems to have a positive, and I learn at least one new thing about human nature from this site each day.

Okay..After having been attacked personally over the NGD "mob mentality", I think it's disappointing that you would foster that here. Either everyone has a voice here, regardless of how silly or stupid it may seem, or they do not. Don't walk the line and ask others to make this decision for you if being an open forum for the players is what you wanted for this site. Encouraging the masses to pick and choose who is worthy to post here and who is not just makes this the NGD with less constraints on language.

Even with overwhelming disapproval of your idea (not surprising), i think most people would rather have a community vote on banning people rather than having you do it under "martial law" or "world war three" or "fake excuse" powers. I would, anyway. Just suspend user for 3 hours and put up a poll, sounds easy to me.

How about a permanent suspension pending the results of the poll, that takes less effort.
