This is my announcement on this issue:

I just brought this site down for a time out, based on emergency measures, after several members of Dissolution intentionally made new threads on the same issues that have been beaten to death, and are still being beaten to death, in at least 6 other current threads on this same issue.

All throughout the week, and at least a half dozen times today, I've posted clear and unequivocal instructions that no user was to start additional threads on the matters involved in this thread, but was to use one of the existing threads on this site instead.

I've been dealing with this nonsense for a week and a half now, and it has worn me down to the point I'm no longer interested in continuing this site if these people continue creating these problems for me.

So I've been beyond clear that no new threads were to be started on this issue.

Maktahr started this drama up again tonight in this thread. Sick to death of dealing with the same bullshit over and over, I intiially locked this thread in response. Less than 20 seconds later, I thought better of that decision, and then unlocked this thread.

In the 20 second's I'd temporarily locked this thread, Maktahr had already started a new thread on this same issue. I forgave him for that, since it was based on me locking this thread temporarily before I changed my mind.

I then merged Maktahr's thread into this one, and told him and everyone else in no uncertain terms not to start additional threads on these same matters or I would immediately ban him.

There is absolutely no need to start any new threads on this issue.

So then Maktahr intentionally started this new SECOND thread for the apparent purpose of throwing a tantrum and getting banned:

And I banned each of them, then brought this site down temporarily because the bullshit was piling up faster than I could shovel it back out.

Anyone else starting a new thread on this same issue will be immediately and permanently banned from this site, regardless who that is. That includes Gaige, Calthine, and Jesus Christ. And for each new thread started on this same issue, I will close this site for one hour, and will credit the banned person for that closure.

That's it. Use one of the above threads to talk about issues relating to Dissolution yelling the Rumbler, my or gaiges leaving Dissolution, Gaige's penis, or any matter involving someone's agreement or disagreement with anything related to or spinning out of the 2500 reply post on the Nek board, if you desire. But if you start a new thread on those same issues, I'll happily perma ban you also.

I also hereby revoke any offers I've previously made to unban anyone for prior acts that lead to their banning on this site. I'm not interested in allowing anyone else back in at this time for the sole purpose of further inciting this riot.

If you disagree with me on anything I've done or written above, tough. Please just don't use this site, and it was nice knowing you.

Thank you to the hundreds of people who've sent me tells in game this past week supporting the decisions I've made during the difficult times we've had here during the past two weeks based on the issues described in this thread. I'm human and not perfect. I cannot continue this site if this bullshit continues, it is taking my full time. Accordingly, I will just remove the troublemakers as they spam additional threads in violation of this clear and necessary directive.

Xelus has now also been banned from this site for making a further post on this issue within seconds of me lifting the time out and bringing the site back up.

The site is once again under time out, as I've stated above.

I will hereafter be deleting every new tantrum thread made by everyone intending to get banned by their thread.

If you want to post on this issue or discuss it, do that in this thread or one I've linked above. Do not start a new thread on this issue, or in addition to permanently banning you, I will immediately delete your thread and nobody will ever read it here.

By the way, one more new "protest" thread started by some retard for the purpose of going down in glory and getting banned from this site will result in this site being taken down for the rest of the night, until tomorrow morning.

I've been dealing with this horseshit for a week and a half now. This bullshit ruined my Christmas, and it will not ruin my New Years.

EQ2flames was initially founded on good principals and ideas, generally from disgruntled forum posters on the official forums. However, this site has strayed much from its initial core values of "unmoderated" forums. Though you can still cuss and rant other players out, the fear and risk of suspension/bans prohibit many from speaking their thoughts.

Yes, many of the forum rules were voted and approved under a majority, but why is that I wonder. More and more people here posting are not the previous disgruntled official forum posters of the official forums, but the NGD posters and other easily offended individuals. The forum rules are shifting from its core values founded by theses disgruntled official and moving towards "softer" values of that by the NGD posters easily offended individuals of the official forums. Sure, you can claim that it's a democratic vote; however, democracy shouldn't values from its core ideas. I for one am getting tired of seeing this site turn into another, but yet still freer, version of the official forums.

Sure, there has to be some rules, but I and many do not agree with many. Threads should not be deleted, merged or edited, unless absolutely needed. More and more do I see posts and posters being deleted and banned for reasons that do not accurately fit the rule breaking criteria. When I see a no spam rule, I think of people spamming pages and pages of threads of the same repeated post, not new post that slightly deviates from another, because heck, just about every post can be related to another.

Also, the Admin has been too friendly with the ban user tool rather than simple suspensions. Yes, I do know most of them are from my guild, but I do not see how starting a new thread, even if it’s slightly on the same topic of another, falls under the spam category or how it is an “attack to bring down the site.” How were the posts an attack to bring down the site? It probably would actually bring more users to read them. So yes, I do believe many of my fellow guildmates were banned wrongfully without sufficient justification. They were more so banned for flaming the owner of the site rather than breaking the rules to a “bannable” extent.

As for “derailing” and off topic posts being against the rules, how the hell did that happen. Since when can you not go off topic in a thread? Why is it that the original poster claims rights to moderate his or her thread to keep it on topic? God, that’s just what EQ2flames needs, more fucking easily offended posters. So what, you post goes off topic, fucking live with it, debate it out or whatever, that’s where much of the fun many of us have with the forums; debating and fighting it out. Fuck, you can even start a new post fucking flaming his or her ass for derailing you post. God, it’s fucking tiring to see people going around crying to the admin to solve their forum problems. Fucking suck it up and find your own way to come back with words, don’t go running to the teacher screaming “that guy called me stupid, do something!”

God, EQ2 flames is being less and less fun to post at. Theses days, I’m more worried about what I should and should not post because of the risk of mod invention. We need to fucking dump the rules we have and return back to the original core values of “unmoderated” or even self-moderated by the community. I’m fucking sick and tired of seeing theses posters complaining because they didn’t get it their way, go fucking post on the official forums then.

Also in response to the claim:

EQ2flames was far from under an attack. There was what? 3 new threads? I do not see how 3 threads can be considered an attack to bring down the site. I understand the reason of the thread merges and the warns, but no where should they be banned for making ONE new post that slightly deviates from the original topic. That’s like stealing a piece of candy and going to State Prison for life.

On a side note (and I do love my side notes ), a friend of mine in the game told me at the start of EQ2flames; EQ2flames will eventually become more and more moderated and eventually be biased towards the views of the owner of the site because absolute power corrupts. I told that person that it’s unlikely to happen because well, it was founded on the values of unmoderated forums. I can see now that perhaps that person was right in a way. The forums have become far too moderated, far too strict on certain topics, opinions, and individuals. So, EQ2flames is dead to me =p. I’ll probably still visit and post on occasions, but no where to the degree in which I did before.

I would like to point out, that SoE actually moderated what was said and could be done much less harshly then what LFG is now doing. If you post on the everquest2 forums, at least you have the possiblity of your voice being heard by development.

I sincerely wish everyone would just STFU about it. There's about a half-dozen people who care about this issue. The rest of us would like to never hear about it again.

Get past it already. Feel the need to leave the site? Fine, that's your perogative. But quit torturing everyone else with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is LFG's site. He has no obligations whatsoever and can pretty much do as he pleases. In the past he has chosen to try and stay impartial allowing people to do whatever as long as they are following the rules.
This time he chose to act. Don't like it? Go somewhere else or make your own forums.

No one is forcing anyone to use these forums, they were opened as a place to discuss things that are not allowed in the regular forums for various reasons and anyone could have done the same thing. (And still can.)

If this had taken place on the SOE boards most people in this drama would have been banned faster then you can say "exploit".

I don't mind flames, its what the site is for. Just follow the rules and stop acting like 4 year olds.

i helped create the site, if even in a small way, but I am completely ashamed of what it has become. LFG you are throwing out warnings to everyone including me, and I have NEVER broke a rule on this site. These "emergency" rules need to go, they completely discredit this site and your integrity. I am not proud of the 'spam' that some people were doing, but I was not making the situation worse. In fact, I posted an anger management thread because I thought it would help calm everything down. And the result? I get a ban warning. You need to take a step back and chill the fuck out. This site is far from what it was a week after it opened.
