NBG...are you trying to say NGD? Because seriously....I have never seen anyone misspell a 3 letter acronym like that before.
*Gives a giggle*

For those who want to PvP they should have different rule sets, period. It's a whole 'nother beast, to be honest.

And yeah, some of the Warden's "bells and whistles" where changed because of PvP.

If they can have progression servers that have different rules, scripts, whatever, why can't they do the same for PvP and leave the PvE people alone?

First, understand I'm not a big fan of PvP. Sure I played for a month or so I can say I at least gave it shot, however I don't think a classic MMO (i.e. EQ2, WoW, VG, GW, etc...) can be really competitive without PvP.

They made a huge deal when the PvP servers went live that they were on two entirely different sets of rules. They could make changes on the PvP servers that wouldn't impact PvE. To this date, nothing major has changed on PvE just a bunch of little stuff that annoys everyone.

The question is why? My assumption (and this is pure RadarX here) is that you basically have 2 very similar looking servers. You want to have them identical as possible so when you make changes, it isn't a hassel to do on both. Every change made that affects one and not the other makes them more and more different. This creates more variables when it comes time to make even more changes. Someone had to make a judgement call and decided that it wasn't worth just changing just the PvP server.

Is it crappy? Yeah it is. Do I blame griefing PvPers? Totally. It's hard for me not to understand why they did it though.

Are you absolutely sure of that? Last I checked none of those changes had anything to do with PvP. To be honest I don't know 100% why the mount speed was reduced since one of the graphics guys made the change. However backup speed has always been slower in pvp since its launch. If we wanted mount speed to be lower in PvP for some reason believe me its a simple if statement and trust me there are several hundred of them in the code already.

When it comes to spells we also have control of pvp specific versions of the them. In most cases the damage is controlled in those versions of the spell or maybe its a completely different effect in pvp like the taunts are. No class has changed though as a result of pvp. If a class has an overpowered spell in pvp its usually a simple change. Some changes are warranted in pve and pvp but trust me if its a pvp only issue I will go out of my way to make sure it remains that way.

I'm not going to say everything is perfect. There have been bugs where pvp has leaked into pve accidentally but by and large pvp rules are totally seperate from pve as they should be. My main is also on a pve server and like yourselves I would prefer the mechanics of pvp to stay on those servers and I make sure it does. ;)

Please don't do anything on the SoE forums that they don't want you to do. That is their site with their rules, this one is ours.

Thank you.
