I have no problems with men playing female characters as long as they don't act deceiving and shit and throw themselves out there as a female (ie literally say they're a female in RL and people believe it).

Btw the gender guessing game is awesome to play if you're bored..it kept me entertained for hours when all I had to do was run around in Freeport and act like a 5 year old with ADHD.

Ya go ahead and laugh, but I respect other dude's rights to play female toons, so I think people should respect my right to say none for me thanks, I'm just a dude and I only play male toons.

Same here. I'd feel strange playing male characters. Now, that's not to say that I've never had male characters I've written about. I'd just feel strange playing a guy.

Unless I've misunderstood the whole thing -- which is a very real possibility -- it's about how some people feel strange about the fact that others are playing the opposite gender characters, and not so much how you feel about playing your own toon. I mean, I feel great about playing a dwarf (hey, who wouldn't?), but I doubt anyone else gives a rats ass about that hehe. It's like tech support forums where poster A tells the world his computer isn't working and poster B promptly replies that his does.

Or did some of you guys just want to make sure everyone else knows you're not secretly gay or something?

No secret about it. I'm bi. I just don't feel comfortable playing a guy toon.

(Actually, I'm lying... I don't feel comfortable portraying a guy toon on the internet. I have no problems playing a guy toon on a console game because it's just me. I don't like deceiving people. )

Fair enough. I personally don't care which way people are swinging - I'm just fascinated by the whole game > sexuality concept. You know? No matter how hard I try I just can't find anything even remotely sexually attractive in a bunch of pixels. And cyber sex does absolutely jack shit for me - and believe me, I tried hehe - it just makes me feel really stupid and embarrassed. I need to touch and smell and taste stuff to get going. So for me it's just totally baffling how it can be such a big deal for so many people. I'm obviously missing something but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is.

Assuming you're talking about guys that play as female characters but DO NOT flirt or hit on or act girly to male players/male characters. I'm talking about normal people myself.

What about females mistaken for a guy? Even over voicechat-type programs? (Some people who don't know me at all mistake me for a seven-year-old boy at first.)

Oh. That reminds me. There's a ton of females playing as males and males playing as females (usually the latter) in my guild, Dawn of Evolution, and for the holidays I sent each main a gift (one of the colorful level 1 dresses/outfits for fun, so Befallen Tailors must have been happy!)

It was weird because the guild roster only shows the name, class, level, location, join date... etc... but never the character's gender. It's also weird to send feminine gifts to a player you KNOW is a guy but their character's a girl.

Nope, don't cyber or try and get shit out of guys. If I do flirt at all, it's with friends that I know and have grouped with over a long period of time. I'm not in this to pick anyone up or have them pick me up. I'm paying this game to play it.
