been a lot of people who have been going into zones and ghosting all over the place and getting fabled drops over and over and over until they have all the loot tables on a particular mob. killin tarinax and vyemn and every mob in labs and shit 5-6 times a night is complete bullshit but whats even worse is when they get caught by a gm and are told that its ok because it is a game mechanic?!?!?! SOE really needs to get their act together because this shit is rediculous and is making this game about the equivalent of some fucking console game where u use a cheat to get max invulnerability or some shit.

SOE obviously knows about it and in my opinion it is worthy of an emergency server down and fix.

the people that use this exploit are douche bags and little bitches if you need to cheat to make your character half ass then just do us all a favor and stick ur head in a waffle iron... people that do this are scum and the people that know about it and do nothing are right there with them... u people make me fucking sick.

Wow, thats something fun, hacking into epic zones.

I've heard about people exploiting their way into zones, or expoiting mobs inside the zone, but no matter what they do, if they kill a named, they get locked out for at least the failure time. So doing Deathtoll and/or Labs multiple times an evening doesn't seem possible unless a new type of exploit was found in the past few days.

I need to educate people about something and ask for cooperation before this post gets started.

This post, as written, is fine. The OP is rightfully flaming people use a gimp tactic to cheat.

Fortunately, the OP is smart and didn't provide information about how to do what he is complaining about. Because giving information on how to cheat is strictly prohibited by the site rules:

So it's ok to discuss whether doing something is an exploit or not. Flaming exploiters is always encouraged here. But please don't take the next step and provide information about how an exploit works, because that type of post would be deleted in two minutes or less here.

I'm explaining this because I was recently criticized from outside this site for allowing discussions about "exploits". Sure, our users have typed thousands of words here trying to define exploits, explaining what they are, and debating with others that they themselves didn't commit a particular exploit.

But, there is not one post on this site that violates any SoE rule, EULA, or ToS, to the best of my knowledge. We are not a pirate site, and we do not allow that here.

In summary: arguing about whether someone committed an exploit is allowed on this site, provided the discussion doesn't give technical details on how to commit the exploit. It is my opinion, based on my masters degree in Philosophy, that arguing about yelling The Rumbler and describing it is NOT the same thing as posting information about how to dupe coins, or how to ghost through zones. The former is permitted and widely discussed on most EQ2 servers. The latter is strictly prohibited by SoE rules and on this site. We will delete any information about how to commit the type of exploit described by the OP immediately, and would then either warn or ban the person who posted it, depending on the circumstances.

Like I said, however, there is no problem with this post so far, please carry on.

yep i was very careful in the post on purpose just bringing the subject to the attention instead of the act, i personally have never done it but know how it is done and the subject and particular instance of the GM catching the people doing it actually happened where he described it as a game mechanic and blew it off and basically told the exploiters to carry on. but id never pass that information on especially on this site out of respect for its creators.

I can claim I found a new broker exploit to get 100p per hour, and I show you 2k plat in a trade ... Would you believe it? I wouldn't believe it if someone showed that to me.
If someone claims to zonein to DT/Labs over and over, multiple times a day, that person can show me the log file of him zoning into the zones, killing just the endbosses and zoning back in some time later (date & time included). That would be proof of that exploit existing, but this seems to be a pretty good joke from one or more people.

The one sure fire way to get an exploit fixed pretty dang quick is to make it well known(im not saying you should make it well known). But that is one sure fire way to see the servers dropped down pretty quick and the exploit fixed.

Define ghosting for me btw. is it EQ1 ghosting? A series of warps that basicly make you invincable and use to kill the mobs while taking little if any damage?
or do you mean warping - moving to a mob with no possibility of gaining un-wanted agro?

also is it certain individuals doing it, or whole guilds? and are you privy to any one in particular thats doing it? You did say someone got caught and blamed it on bad mechanics.

And while I am glad that LFG will remove any posts that describe how to accomplish these exploits, it seems rather odd that somebody can pretty much spell out how to do at least one of these exploits on the SOE forums and no mod touches it. I guess they didn't actually describe it in detail, but you'd have to be an idiot to not make the connection.

Let me try and explain this more simply.

It's ok to define a concept, e.g., what is ghosting. Ghosting has been defined above as an exploit where you travel through mobs without getting agro.

It's not ok to describe how to do that exploit. Nobody in this thread has tried to explain how to ghost, or provided information that would help someone understand how to do it.

So we have discussed an exploit, without violating the Site Rules or doing anything harmful to SoE or EQ2.

I don't know what SoE has or hasn't allowed people to talk about on the SoE forums. But that doesn't really matter. They don't have an obligation to not harm their own intellectual property rights. I do have that obligation, and can't allow anyone to do it here.
