Do I even have to FINISH that comparrison?

The one difference, I suppose, is that at least on here, there's nothing stopping the other side from doing it themselves.
Equal opportunity grandstanding and all that.

Re: Out a moderator!
At least there its more upfront when someone has a beef with you.
Here? Making anonymous threads dedicated to trashing people who A) Aren't here to defend themselves or B) Have no clue that this forum exists AND is trashing them?
I can't get in on that. I don't care who the thread is about - if they aren't here to say their two cents, no matter how fuck-witted it is...I can't chime in with how I feel about them.
I might not like somone, or respect someone, but I have the courtesy to tell them, and not do it in a place they'll never see.
But hey, there's no clique here - this isn't the NGD...

Gotta agree here. I was a little shocked and angry that this happened. The mods deserve to be able to do their job without fear of being "outted." Granted, Sony could have brought in people who were not players, or allowed the players to moderate from their actual accounts, but I think the reason they're on anonymous accounts was to avoid a couple of things.
- Getting harassed in game for actions on the board
- People being able to point and say "He's playing favorites with someone in his guild/on his server"
- The ability to physically "seperate" themselves from a situation by having to acutally log into another account to do moderly type things
- Easier to "replace" as they just need to change the password and give it to someone new
I've heard some of the damage this thread has done. It makes me sad. I have also seen some of the good it's done, by allowing people to vent some of the things they've wanted to say but couldn't.
But in the end of the day, some people are going to be hurt by this, either by in-game harassments, by losing their mod authorities when they did nothing wrong, or just seeing people they thought as friends tearing each other apart here.

I disagree, if mods = Players we deserve to know.
It's not on our conscience if Sony has questionable methods for getting mods.

You don't pay for the forums, they are given as a priviledge of subscription. So why do have any rights to know who SOE taps to do anything?
Should I get to know exactly which raid guilds are being used to test new content including all members involved? No, it's SOE's show.

You deserve to know? Where in the 14.95 that you spend to hook your computer up to the magical intrawebnet and play this game do you get the right to know?
You *deserve* two things numbnuts, jack and SHIT. YOU DESERVE? Last time I check you weren't an SOE employee, part of the community staff, or even a mod. You don't DESERVE shit. If SOE wants to run things their way that's fine, and they can do it get this - without YOUR magical mystical imput.
When they want advice on how to be an obvious drooling retard, your special bat-phone will be ringing Mr.West. Why don't you go wait by it and leave the grown up talk to the big kids?
Jesus..you deserve. You deserve a kick in the sack.

Re: Out a moderator!
There'd be no problem, if the mods were actually paid to do it, and not just random posters, random in the sense they are not paid by SoE to do it and weren't put through a "hiring" process.
It's SoE's fault for being retarded and puting posters in charge of moderating. If you want to have a moderator, you pay for a moderator. If 1 moderator isn't enough, you hire more. It's simple mechanics, you don't pick up people that other people may hate due to their game views or their posting style. You place a job ad, and you hire another one or 2!

Second, I do think SOE should be upfront about the mods, but they make their own rules.
Third..omg, Arthais? Haven't seen you around. It's nice to see you about. Unfortunately (or fortunately as I see it), I do see fansite writing as a job. It allows me to be at home for my daughter and that is extremely important to me, and I have no higher ambitions than that.
And finally..I see cliques everywhere. Even if it's just a couple of good friends who have each others backs, it's bound to happen.

I couldn't agree more. My "fansite" job allows my daughter to have someone home with her 24/7 and I can't honestly think of a better reward. Of course Sav, you're hitting on the difference between a fansite and a hobby. What we do is a business, while we love our jobs (ok sometimes love them), at the end of the day we're there to make money. Fansites are a hobby. They are done for little in the way of ambition, so the expectations are lower.
