Re: Out a moderator!
I'm sorry but if I say something about Player A, and Player A is a mod and uses his powers to delete, edit my post on his mod account, thats 100% bullshit.
We do have minimum wage in the US right? Being a full time mod would be a kick ass stay at home job for $6.00/hr. Sony, can't afford that?
End result is what you are looking at.

I don't think it works at all. Now if people know who the moderators are, it works fine, but if you don't know who they are, it doesn't work at all. It was well known who Faarwolf was, she was a moderator, she didn't post on other accounts. She only had 1 account, Faarwolf and that was all she did her posting on. Moderators should not be seperate accounts from posting, either that or they should stop posting on their normal accounts.

I disagree, the forums are provided by SoE as part of the game. It's a part of the game I pay for. I know that because Raijinn and others earn a salary from SoE that is funded in part by subscription revenue. They don't operate that forum for benevolent purposes, it exists as a part of EQ2 that I'm only able to use if I'm an EQ2 subscriber.

Exactly.

Wow nice idea. Would be a killer job for many stay-at-home mothers and others.
They should send Calthine an offer letter, IMO, she'd be great at that.

Re: Out a moderator!
And just for the fun of it, I'll just say what I've said all along. I think it's a bad idea.
I can think of no other profession, NONE, where this degree of obvious non arms length dealing can go on. Doctors can not have personal relations with their patients, lawyers can not have a stake in the proceedings they advocate for, accountants are not allowed to have a financial insentive within the organization they bookkeep in.
Ethical guidelines exist for a reason, to create a solid wall between the person, and the job. No personal involvement, no direct insentive, no possibility to allow personal feelings to get in the way of doing your duty. And if you DO fall into that trap, you lose your job, you lose your license.
They exist for a reason. But they don't exist here. Despite whatever misgivings as to WHO got picked, I can not support any structure that violates the fundamental underpinnings as to the reason such guidelines exist in the first place. Namely, ya can't trust nobody.

But that's one of the issues. We don't know. We don't know which posters are mods. Early on, it was said Starry = Mawnie. There are several threads where both post. Those particular threads are innocuous, however. I have had a couple of arguments with her and I've had threads locked for reasons I can't fathom.
We "imagine" rules are in place and some semblance of order is present but we don't know. Thus the hubbub. Then again, we can look at what happened to Khalan and see how loosely these "rules" are applied.

Unless raijiin, brenlo, and all the rest of the paid CS staff draw an income from sources other than subscription payments...bullshit.
Subscription costs pay for the costs with the forum, and pay for the services of those who moderate them. Yes, we most certainly pay for the forums, and as such it is as much of a service provided by my contract with SOE as the game is itself.

Ahh..but do they? I happen to know that some of the devs post on private accounts when they choose to do so. All of the devs, the paid mods, etc, also have the right to own a personal account and use it as a personal account. They are players too, do you think that they stop playing the game simply because it's also their job? Are they allowed to play under anon chars even thought they may have more insight than you do? And Faarwolf had a private life. She had private SOE accounts and was a player as well as a mod.

And I repeat what I said earlier about how positive, figuritvly and literally, she is for the crafting community. I would rather pay out of my own pocket not to have to put up with that kind of bullshit.
As to the point, you are spot on. She would be terrific. Those forums, however, would never allow her to continue adding to the discussions as she currently does. Here, maybe. Not there.
