The thesis for my philosophy degree was a paper proving that Elvis still lives, since it is impossible to prove the difference between reality and perception.
I have no idea whether that has anything to do with what Gaige wrote, but it just entered my head when I read this, so I felt compelled to say it.

Re: Out a moderator!
This is freaking stupid that there is a debate on if this list is true or not, it is.
All the mods and their alter ego's know damn well its the truth and they know damn well how that list got out. Do you know why they were and wanted to keep their real account names a secret? Because they knew damn well that 99.9% of them had no right to be moderating other players.
Think about it, if I were going to be a mod, why wouldnt I want the mod name Ishbu? People know me as Ishbu, know my posting style, and know what I like and dislike. If I am being unfair to a demographic they can point it out and show how I am abusing my power, and hopefully get it removed. These mods hide behind aliases so they can play favorites with their own agenda's but face no wrath because they do it all from their mod account. They are not fair, they are biased, and they are terrible at moderating what needs to be moderated and only do so when it goes against their personal opinions. Thank god they dont have the power to ban anyone themselves (with the possible exception of Echgar, although Im not for sure about that).
To Savanja, Gaige, and any other mods reading this you all know promytheus gave this list out to Juliev(Oolie) from the blackburrow server a long time ago. Obviously it did not die there and has circulated around, and anyone with a clue should have seen that coming. If nothing else, mods need to be moderating on their player accounts, none of this secret bullshit as a result of all this. Some need to flat out be removed now that the general populace knows the truth.
Its pretty sad that players are not even allowed to call you by your player names. Tangarth was warned by Raijinn that it was inappropriate to refer to, for example, Stareyedelf as Mawie. Why is that wrong? Its her freaking name she chose. Its not inappropriate to call me Ishbu. Quit hiding behind the blue name already.

I've also always been particularly fascinated with the concept of solipsism, which is the idea that either you or I are God, but neither of us can prove otherwise.

This is a whole lotta rumor that no one here can confirm. I happen to know Asterothrax (and did for a long while), and he's a compulsive fucking liar. A fact that which Julie, I believe, knows now. If that's the best sources people got...then I'm unimpressed.
And..I don't believe Mawies name is ACTUALLY Mawie. Just like my name isn't ACTUALLY Savanja. I've got like 5 diff handles I use online, as most people do. lmao. Whatever name people call me by online, none of them are me, so what the fuck do I care what you think?

Re: Out a moderator!
Savanja I wouldnt go so far to say no one here can confirm. It could very easily be confirmed but at a cost to the party(ies) that do so.
People can choose to write this off as just some made up bull shit or not, but thats not going to change the facts that you are a moderator on the SOE boards. Sooner or later that fact will be affirmed by someone whose word is going to be taken as law. Perhaps when you quit the game for good or whatever else, but people will remember how you did nothing but lie about it on these boards and should you choose to stick around, what kind of credibility does that leave you with?
For fucks sake, if the moderators are bold face lieing, how can we trust them to moderate fairly? I bet right now there is some thread on the volunteer moderator boards talking about how the hell do these people know this and how do we stop it from being spread further? What are they gonna do, ban my player account from in game(;)brenlo)
I wish all you volunteer mods were stripped of any semblance of power and they found some unbiased people to do some real moderating rather than find out who is upsetting a few people because they bring up a real issue or something.

That having been said. Pet peeve time.
Descartes is so misquoted it's absolutely frelling amazing. It's Dubito Ergo Sum. The actual thought process that lead up to the entire thing was Descartes trying to definitively prove or disprove his own existence. So he sat himself down and doubted away every possible aspect of life. The one and ONLY thing he was unable to doubt out of existence was the fact that he was ... wait for it... doubting! YES! Hence the I doubt therefore I am.

Re: Out a moderator!
At this point I think all current mods should either resign or be asked to quit and they should find another method by which to police the forums or do away with them entirely. I don't think this should happen b/c of conflicts of interest or because of who the currents mods are, their perceived reasons of favoritism for how they were chosen or b/c some people just don't like them or feel they are not "qualified" enough (whatever that means). I think it should be done b/c this system did not work as intended, it's flawed, it's exposed, it's caused far more harm than good and some people are being harrassed in game b/c of this.
The whole thing has left nothing but a nasty taste in my mouth. No, it's not enough to make me become emo and change my sig or avatar to help channel my teenage agression or angst but it has seriously damaged all moderator's credibility in my eyes when a post is moderated. So much so to the point that my desire decreases to post there and while I'd never be so bold as to proclaim THERE ARE MORE; I do think there are.

If you want to be really technical, neither one of us is right. Descartes, a frenchman, wrote his Discourse in french, the actual line as he wrote it is "Je pense, donc je suis".
The formulation of "cogito ergo sum" although often attributed to Descartes, was not said by him (nor anything else in latin, as I said, he wrote in french). The actual origin of the saying, slightly modified, I believe, if my philosophy notes are correct, came from Augustine of Hippo who wrote De Civitate Dei (the city of god) in which he said "ac proinde haec cognitio, ego cogito, ergo sum, est omnium prima et certissima etc."
