Wow..and here I was thinkin' law school meant you were bright.

I'm saying;

He doesn't PLAY the game, so the changes that he bitches about needed are irrelevant - they don't matter.

Even if they fixed everything he wanted, he wouldn't know - and he'd still be a bitter prick because he doesn't play. His timeline STOPPED the day he packed up the family and moved to Beverly.

He can say "used to" or "should have" but his relevance on direction is immediately MOOT to the fact that he's not active any longer.

Basically - if yer a bitter fuck who doesn't play anymore, don't try to steer *MY* game in *YOUR* direction because it doesn't affect you, it affects me.

Now quick, give me the law school version and rebuttal because I can't sleep and it'll help.

Want a rebuttal? ok.

Rebuttal #1 - how are your opinions any more relevant? Does anyone at SOE think to himself "quick, I gotta see what coyotee thinks about this first!" How's the campaign to bring corpses back going for ya? His opinion is moot? Fine, ok. And yours is of great importance how?

Rebuttal #2 - It's a fucking flame board and he can do whatever the fuck he wants to. Whether you think his opinions are useful, correct, or even valid doesn't really matter. Don't want him trying to change "your" game? Tough, free speech is a bitch, and LFG's it's hoe.

Rebuttal #3 - maybe, juuuuust maybe, the reason he doesn't play anymore is because of those complaints which, if addressed in a way he agrees to, would bring him to play again. I think he has every right to try to influence a company to make a product he enjoys as you do to try and influence a company to keep a product in the way you enjoy it. And from a company's perspective, saying "don't change this or you'll lose my 15 bucks a month" is probably equally as valid as saying "change this and I'll come back with my 15 bucks a month". It depends on who is on what side of the issue.

Now I like ya C, but really, to say that someone has "no right" to talk about a video game, on a flame board, dedicated to that video game, seems rather...silly. His opinion may be of no substantive influence, but then again, is yours? Is mine? Is anyone's here? You don't have to agree with it, like it, respect it, or pay a damned bit of attention to it. But saying that he shouldn't post a flame on a flame board is like telling you not to go for the fart joke, nonsensical.

How's that for a rebuttal?

In general, I hate people who solo as their main playstyle because they prefer it.

I hate you all. I hope you all quit and go play console games.

Wow. All the angst in this thread is way hot.

And just so I'm not accused of going off topic..Yeah, soloers suck!

MMOs have to cater to soloers as much as they cater to groupers and raiders. No one group of players can be excluded, cuz that's just bad business. Just so happens that casual players make up the majority of the current MMO market, and that includes a lot of soloers. Course, they are going to have to learn to live with mediocre gear and all unless they truck their asses over to the exchange server and buy super cool junk.

I personally wouldn't pay a monthly subscription for a game I used primarily for soloing. I would buy a decent rpg where you are the centre of the story instead of a bit player.

Still if people want to play like that there's nothing to stop them. It just seems like a waste of money to me. If I want to speak to friends that play the game I would use Vent/TS.

Anyway, without them and their money, this game might be in a worse state.

Finally, the soloist of today could become the tomorrows hardcore raider due to life changes - anything is possible.

Pro.

Give SOE a chance. They'll fuck it up if you just give them the opportunity. They will continue to kiss solo ass. Pretty soon, you'll be able to stand at your crafting station next to the new single NPC broker/black market/mender/status merchant and hit Favor of Innovation and get a Master chest with Chel'drak loot inside. ONLY if you were doing a T7 combine...of course.

No Captain Extreme-Point, no one at SOE thinks that, and last I checked I wasn't on a campaign for anything. You're the politician/lawyer/important guy - not me. But since you like shock visuals how's this? Would you demand a Vegan resturant serves beef - even if you didn't eat there or had plans to eat there in the future? Adding your views to something you aren't part of to help improve it is one thing; Adding your hatred, animosity, and extreme suggestions because you hate something isn't a) constructive b) helpful or c) out of the goodness of your heart. Do I think my opinion means more than the masses? No - look at me you jackass, I'm a loudmouthed dickhead.

Do I think my opinion means more than someone who doesn't play the game, is bitter about the experience he DID have and spreads that bitterness to anyone who will listen? Yeah. Fuck yeah I do...

Only you would refute my first point, then cancel out YOUR OWN FUCKING rebuttal with your second point. Seriously, go back and read both, compare, take notes, and do whatever else they're teaching you over at the Ambulance Chasin' Olympics. I'll take the time and wait for you to catch up. How the HELL do you talk out of both sides of your face?

Ahhh..I got your point now, and I can see where I was absolutely wrong, so in reading this I take by my initial flame, and withdraw my feelings on this.

You are RIGHT.

When something doesn't go your way - you should pack up your toys and leave, join a message board community and spread your hate and angst like an adult. Throw in a couple of "clever" badly photoshopped Avatars to prove your point and sit on the side lines throwing tantrums until the other kids change what you don't like just to get YOU back. Because HEY, you were a player right? You OBVIOUSLY understand the game, its mechanics, programming, time, money, resources, agendas, future plans and staffing situations of the game better than EVERYONE at the company that produces it. Hell! I drive a Ford! I'm going to go make some demands from them right now and see what they say.

You giant fucking jackass. If you're enjoying something and it starts to go south - you stick around. You keep writing letters, you keep making suggestions and you get involved in a POSTIVE way. You don't start a flame fest, walk around all disgruntled and act like a child who didn't get his way. Writing a post "rangers suck" and then getting pissed when the rangers aren't revamped to your ideal specs that you have lodged in your brain along with the NESTLE QUICK song and three episodes of Family Ties doesn't make you an active part of the community. It makes you a dumbass.

How long does it take to finish an average single player RPG? A month? 2 months? Even at 3 months, an MMO that you play for two years is a better "value" for your money. Instead of paying $50 a month (or two, or three) for a game, you're paying just $15.

Different strokes for different folks. *shrug*
