Nice Devil's Advocacy, Lessing. The thing is you've decided to approach the argument from the wrong direction (well, the direction that makes the stupidity somewhat defensible). The situation is not that the group banded together to make sure that loot went to the class most suited for it... they were a PuG. Without anything specified ahead of time, it does not matter how much more appropriate the ring is for a wizzy over an illy.

What matters here is the communication. I can tell from Tacas' reply that English is likely not his first language, but he certainly has enough of a grasp of it to communicate his desire to get the ring to the group ahead of time. It seems rather straightforward to tell a mage that is joining the group that you are going to loot the ring if it drops, because we all know that a mage (any mage) running that zone is running it for the ring. They don't give a shit if some random wizzy needs it, too. They're in the group and noone has said anything about the ring and they're assuming it is up for grabs (if not, they are certainly the most altruistic person around).

It is simple logic. The deflection that the ring is better for a sorc is meaningless here, because there isn't a "Class Needs More versus Class Needs Less" loot option.

But when formed the group was very late, I wanted go to bed. and when Quuli entered group I did not think that would drop the ring, but I admit was a mistake and apologize again

To complete this explanation, let me say that I sent all my money available and my apologies via ingame mail, nobody in the group needed this item except this person that was the only caster.

They did not? So I take it that in a PUG one should abandon common sense and just grab any loot that is however slight an upgrade for me. Same argument as with Graun. Some loot just belongs to a certain class because it's significantly more efficient for it. End of story. I say yes, you say no.

Its a pug. you get whatever people you find. they arent your friends. they are random people in the zone for loot like everyone else. if its an upgrade. they are going to need it. dont matter if its just 1 crit. dont run pick up groups if your farming the ring. and if you do. tell them upfront. thats the entire argument. your just missing that point.

He was tired and thought it wouldn't drop? I'm more inclined to believe that he was tired, wanted to get the run finished quickly, took another mage and decided that he was gonna loot the ring if it dropped.

I totally agree that some loot is designed for certain classes over others, but the fact remains that even minor upgrades count for some people at the end of the day.

After that, he can apologize. Who knows, people might actually think it's sincere! Assuming they didn't read his earlier posts.....
