It does become rather annoying to see people never try mobs or try them once and feel they have "experianced" the raiding side or experianced raiding a certain mob. Because you pulled and wiped then lost it to another guild that knew what they were doing doesn't mean you have a fucking clue as to what you are talking about.

And I would say as to defining a raider is" If you can kill it then you can comment about it" And if you haven't feel free to shut the fuck up and let others that have discuss it. It's like a Politicians saying "Games are destroying our youth" You have no clue so feel free to shut the fuck up at any point in time, thanks bunch.

Once a guild starts entering deathtoll weekly thats when I can say they are obviously working hard enough to progress, and can be called a raiding guild. By then that means that they are putting enough effort into raiding that they are probably gonna keep going (i mean cmon, everyones gotta start somewhere). But not until they actually CLEAR all the KoS zones (labs, lyceum, hos, dt) would i actually call their members 'raiders', cuz thats when theyll really have proven that they got some sort of skill.

Then after that i guess u can tell apart the raiders from the REAL raiders with cheldrak, and the hardcore ones from those with contesteds.

A raider is someone who wants to do harder raids, and not just sit doing the same old raid over and over again. Those who just do Labs, aren't "raiders." They are people who just want to loot stuff. If you aren't advancing beyond a single raid zone, you aren't raiding. Raiders are those who want to advance to harder content beyond what they're currently doing.

See by MY Definition i'm not a raider, by several other people here (including Calagin's definition above) i am...So Miroh thats why i asked the question. If you look almost everyone here has different reasoning why they consider one thing or another a factor to determine if your a raider.

I think of the guilds that raid 3+ T7 x4 zones a week raiders. (wow...3+ T7 x4...if someone didnt play this game and saw that they woulda thought i was a genius in math or something.........or just a total fucking loser for knowing what that means. Probably the latter.)

See Labs is a funny thing, because so many people have a negative pre-conceived notion about it, due to relic farming...

To me though, a guild who goes through LoA, HoS, Labs, and tries the DT dragons week in and week out, in order to progress to Deathtoll are still raiders.

Sure they might not be able to advance as quickly as others, due to a larger roster, and people not being on all the time, but they are still raiding.

Now hardcore vs casual raiding is a totally different subject.

By the definition here though, how can a guild going through all those instances week in and week out, but have no chance at contested due to the top guilds holding a lock on them, be known as a true raiding guild?

The problem isn't the definition between raider, and non-raider...it's between Casual raider, and hardcore raider.

One thing I've learned from this site is that Raiders take thier art really seriously. However, I'm interested cause from what I've read and heard, I think that raiding instanced mobs should still be considered raiding as long as you don't keep raiding them, then it's just farming. Instanced mobs allow you to get your feet wet and learn how to pull together as a team to raid bigger, badder, contested stuff. It's like "Raiding Lite" but it's still a raid lvl mob and as such is raiding.

Now, I'm not a raider and have only joined a few raids based on the needs of quests and such. So... What the hell does "labs" stand for?

And before you start flaming me Pinski (for being EXACTLY the guy your talking about), explain to me why my opinion isn't a good one, THEN beat the unholy living crap outta me. :smiley-very-happy:

If you want to comment on raiding, I expect that you are very passionate about raiding.

Thats honestly the only requirement for me.

If I could break down passionate:
Raid often
Understand the fundamentals of raid dynamics
Understand what each class brings to a raid, and what they dont
Understand progression (both encounter and itemizatioN) and its' importance

That would pretty much axe 50%+ of people posting, I think.
