I only repost emails and private PMs when the user threatens me with a lawsuit or RL law enforcement.

In this case, bubba sent me an email complaining about a post. I check it out, and don't see anything that could possibly be in violation of a site rule. So I send back my polite response, with this one line question, because I don't see it:

I have two responses:

1. Hold me, I'm scared. Tell Barney Fife that I can be reached by email at eq2flames@comcast.net.

2. Faabio, if you have anything on this site with this jackass moron's pic on it, please remove it from this site, unless you can demonstrate you obtained the pic from a linkable, public Internet source that was either posted by this person or with his permission.

Don't ever fucking threaten me again.

in fact - faabio got that picture from his ( bwellison or how its called ) myspace side - so it is allright.
you should post the video here too and mention that it is made because a 43 year old guy
was arguing with faabio about video games ^^

You are telling me this guy posted his pic on myspace, and has threatened to get his local district attorney (btw, you need to start with the po-lice, the DA comes after that step) because Faabio reused it in one of his videos and posted it here?

This guy sent me a generic outrage post with a general link to the thread he was complaining about. I didn't see any description of what the problem was anywhere. Had he explained to me that Faabio made a video with a cartoon penis superimposed over his RL pic, I probably would have sent Faabio a PM and asked him, voluntarily, to remove it from the site based on RL privacy concerns of the user.

But demanding I tell Faabio to edit his video and remove a dick cartoon on top of the guy's face, when Faabio got the pic from the guy's myspace?

My obligation to protect user privacy exists for private, not public photos released to the Internet at large by that user. While I have no obligation to do so, I occasionally make exceptions and remove publicly released RL pics when I feel that a user's safety or security is threatened.

I don't think any of that is the case here, however. I think this person wants to be an ass in game and on the boards and somehow feels like I owe him protection from the consequences of his own actions.

I don't think so.

bwleeellison (he also uses his RL name on his myspace site, "aka Kidknee Rippender" in game) still has the pic Faabio used displayed in multiple places on his myspace site. "Kidknee" also uses that same pic in his own video on his myspace - the same big image of Kidnee's face is the first thing you see when you go to his myspace.

And Faabio positioning a cartoon penis over that same image is my legal problem how?
