Default DPS help!

Greetings!

I am in need of some DPS tips. I was recently in a HoS raid w/ another SK. I was out dps'd by close to 400 in most encounters. (I was averaging around 600). I am mostly fabled, currently using the Shadow Axe. Almost all masters.
Our group make-up should not have made that much of a difference.
I am spec'd for DPS. Using Str/Int/Sta specs.

What I am asking is how long do you delay your spells between swings?
What adornments are best for dps?
What else should I look at to up my production?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Actually. Group's make a lot of difference. What was in your group and what was in thiers?

In dps mode, you should be using a high delay big dmg spread 2 hander. With spell procs such as the collection earring and bone clasped girdle, with as much int as you can muster.

Default Re: DPS help!

for me litlle str add was more dps add for me than same amount of int

solo str is about 650 and int 550 (offense stance) and right now dirge in grp is more dps than troub

my suggestion is put +14 int adornments to ears but use str adornments on wrists .. for hands slot get the disease dmg increase adornment and same for symbol
and get some nice 2hander .. if u can raid Mayong Mistmoore get SoD done and Soulfire Longsword .. when I got that I got like 700more dps for me..
and grp setup matters a lot like if you can get into mage grp and there's troub, wizard(int/str buff) and something like that its huge add .. or offtank zerker, dirge grp .. zerker has huge str buff ..
I was one time in weird situation where I had zerker wizard and troub in same grp with me my str was over 1k and int close to 900
it was nice dps for me but that was only once .. zerker is not usually in mage grp
not sure will this fit to everybody but it was for me

Thanks for your input. Currently our raid force is not ready for Mayong. Hopefully we will get there soon.

As far as using a 2hander, I use the Fang of the Brood Watcher. With that, what adornment? Is the +3% double attack worth it? Or go with one of the adornments that proc DD?

Proc gear helps certainly, and the mystic orb, bone-clasped girdle, and fitzpitzle's are no-brainers unless you've got something better available (which I don't think is likely for a low-end raiding guild), but I honestly don't see that it makes THAT massive a difference.

I haven't had a chance to play my SK in a good raid setting in a long time, but even in a crappy group wearing tank gear, I couldn't see myself dropping below 800 ever. Last I stopped raiding with my SK, I had my zonewides up to 1300/1400 in the mage group with a troub and without agitate (with agitate I could push 1600-1800 single target), and that's still pretty dumpy as far as SKs go. I've heard of a number of SKs on these boards getting 1600-1800 zonewides. At that point in time all my proc items, including CWM necklace, mystic orb, BCG, fitzpitzle's, and fingerbone manacles, ended up only being about 5% of my total damage, with the BCG making up about half of that. My melee was about 20% of my total, and I use the Planar Axe of Destruction off princes with a phantom handle.

If your DPS is below 1000, it's not because your gear is dump or because you don't have enough proc items, it's because you're doing something wrong in the fight itself.

I noticed you said your in mostly fabled gear . that could be bad for your dps, the other SK might have been in All DPS gear (robe, leather, chain, legendary with High intell and procs, etc, whatever they need to push there DPS up since there not tanking )

i have two set's of gear macro'd one for tanking, Still can do Pretty good dps in this gear and tank in offensive for just about anything and defensive is just a click away if something goes wrong(like i pulled 2 rooms instead of 1 : ), and one for Pure DPS, if im not tanking i dont need a bazilion Hp/mit , but i do need Stats and gear that boost my dps as high as possible

also can use potions to boost intell(Grandmasters name escapes me atm or grandmasters elixer of second sight for increased spell crit %(5;00 am so dont quote me on that : )

and group set up can be a huge differance, if im in G-4 with 5 other tanks and 2 of them are bieng Boxed ill be doing 800 to 900 DPS , if im in group 2 and OT'ing i will be doing 1000 to 1100(in tank gear offensive ) , and if im in a DPS group and have Buffage illl be doing 1200 to 1400+

should be links in here or eq2 forums with some lists for DPS gear for SK

Since when did any weapon give +700 DPS? You may want to look at casting order, proc gear, spell quality, groups and OFC weapon.

Default Re: DPS help!

of course its not all from that weapon.. but after I got Soulfire Longsword my dps went up to around 1400-1800 from 800-1200
nothing else changed but the weapon ..

of course it can mean the weapon delay is fitting better my spell casting speed so I won't miss any swings.. cos I don't time anything .. I just debuff first and hit buttons whenever they're available
