N00b SK help - Weapon/delay/DR ?

Got a n00b SK question for you experts. A friend of mine is new to eq2, and I rerolled with him. He's lvl 18 and looking for a good 1h to tank with while i heal w/ a warden. What is the most important thing to look for? High delay/Damage rating? Any help appreciated.

as stated many times before .. Mastercrafted gear is really good up to lvl 60 I guess .. then start raiding courts

If you're talking about a 1H, I would personally look at the DR. You're going to be missing a few swings if your buddy decides to take some of the haste from the STR line anyways so a longer delay won't help that issue. I would personally tell him to go ahead and grab a 2H for when he starts getting better spells/gear (mostly master crafted until 60 like dude above said) and on those, I say look for delay. Between 3 and 6 seconds on a 2H. With haste, you can drop it down but he'll need a higher delay to get off his spells without missing to many swings

Aye check me thread, or to make it easier ill explain. Get the weapon (if your going for a 2h for dps) with the highest damage spread and highest delay as possible (even on a 1h you want as high of a delay as possible with a high damage spread). Though if leveling is similar to how it was a few years ago you should be fine tanking everything with a 2h, which in turn will help you hold aggro better.

Also go for procs, you most certainly want your weapon to have a nice damage proc onto it (although there are a few nice weps with a taunt proc, i wouldnt reccomend them as the dps is better)

These are the main things i look at on any weapon be it 1h or 2h
1. Delay (Must be high)
2. Damage spread needs to be fairly on the high side
3. Proc, what type of damage (Disease if possible), the amount of damage, and the number of triggers per minute.
