Unless I am totally reading Pools of Blood wrong, I still prefer Reaver. With Reaver, I can cast Divine Aura, and spam spells and get my health back up. Combine that with the ward, and can give the healer a chance to catch up. Combine all this with Bloodletter, and I can survive many more "oh, shit!" moments than ever.
With pools, I am lying face down on the floor waiting for someone to heal me (unless I mis-understand how it works) and losing aggro to the ones nuking to burn the mob down fast.
