Default Aggro Issues

I am a ranger, not trolling, but asking for help because this is appropriate forum. I used to never be afraid to group with an SK tank, most that I play with have been able to keep aggro really, really well, do a lot of DPS and keep themselves healed as to not overtax the healers. This week however, I've gotten a couple of random SK's out of level channels to tank Maidens. Everything goes ok until the Drusella encounter and then they just drop aggro after her cage goes up. When she comes out of the cage, she just drops it completely. Now, I know she probably has some kind of a memblur associated with it, but with other classes (paladin, zerker, guard, brawler) ive never had a problem with this happening only with SK's. The guy kept screaming at me to tone down my aggro, i didnt even want to tell him i was auto-attacking. If this hadnt happened TWICE on 2 different SK's, i would chalk it up to the guy being a noob automatically. I thought one was better than the other, but when it came to Drusella, both did the exact same thing.

Does anyone else have this problem or have I just run into a couple of noob SK's? (One seemed noobish but wasnt having that bad of a time holding aggro). Anyway, I thought I would ask for opinions here from people who know SK's.

Thanks!

Drusella has a -10k (or more) deagro that's attached to a knockback+snare.

because SKs are DoT heavy they generate less hate on the fight as a while. without a decent hate buff I often have trouble also.

yes, what xanoth said. our hate over time is a killer on that fight. our main taunt has dmg attached as well so we cant do full taunting during the shield. when i tank this i do the calls, and dont call back in till i have casted single taunt, group taunt and shield taunt (should only take 1 sec). if the dps is paying attention i never lose aggro. if they do pull... i FD their ass :P and they learn fast.

Really the Sk shouldnt have too much trouble. The ecounter taunt is the only taunt we can use while the sheild is up. But nobody is attacking during that time. She does have a deaggro envolved. My success in that joint is to unload HT, dps and taunts right off the bat. Get lots of aggro .. save DM and Rescue for the Deaggro she pulls. Also it was setup before that you couldnt even use any dot on the chick but now she wipes them off properly.. before that Sk could only use that one taunt the entire fight and was very limited on dps... The tanks may not realize that this has changed and is able to use all attacks while shield is down.

yeah .. that's hardest mob I've ever tried to hold agro .. and almost all our spells are dots so we had like 4 ca's and one taunt to use in the whole fight before drusella cleared dots properly .. and recast on DM and rescue isn't fast so its pain in the ass.. managed to do it couple times but it ain't easy..

Well part of the problem stemmed from the tank completely detargetting the mob i.e. not using the one taunt he could have used during the shielded period. I hope he was using dots...i told him he could. Thanks for all the good info, I really should have understood SK mechanics better than I had.

Trick with that mob is to allow the tank to get the first hit in after the shield comes down; engage autoatatck too early and the mob snaps to that person. I'm almost positive that mob just drops threat constantly not a pure memwipe... more the tank (and others) looses acumulated threat towards the mob. Leave it a second before you toggle on autoattack and/or wait to see the tank get a hit in first.

When I tank that mob I always make sure I get a high speed/hate hit int (shield bash is a good one) a split second after the shield comes down... if I'm late or interupted the mob often turns on someone else. Having a group understand that the best thing you can do is let the tank engage first after the cage is a differecen from a messy fight to a clean kill.

Ran this zone with a ridiculously good SK and had no problems at all...
