Hi board, long time lurker...blah blah blah

Looking for a few suggestions entering Tier 8.

Armor\weapons - Mastercrafted... Should I bother? I've noticed the gear (espically in Kunark zones) has gotten better, and Im wondering if I need to bother with harvesting the rares and begging my guild armorers or just wing it a bit.

Leveling - anything a must do, or is it the same "follow the leveling guide at eq2i...yada yada?"

It really depends on what your current armor/weapon/jewelery is.

If you are wearing treasured trash or MC from T7, then the T8 stuff is pretty damn nice. A full set of Maicious isn't gonna do you wrong for a good while. Quest stuff from T8 takes a bit to get good, and the legendary instance drops are 77+ as well.

Id check thru some profiles on EQ2players and see what people are wearing, then hit up lootdb or eq2.wikia.com to find out where the stuff comes from and go from there.

as far as must do - check out the epic spoiler and work on factions and languages listed there. Helluva lot easier to get things done while leveling than go back to stuff you've left behind to grind bullshit stuff up.

Yea I got T7 MC, I suppose I'll spring for T8 and replace as necessary.

Malicious is the EoF Set Armor.
Furthermore, the Mastercrafted Vanguard has +Shield Block on a few of the pieces, get them until you have something better. Once you get up there start camping Severilious in Kunzar Jungle near CoM for a Shield of the Green Dragon. The typical weapon I usually see is a Nathsar Short Sword from the Sebilis Instance. Get the new tradeskill Charms, etc etc.

level 77 is gonna be the sweet spot tho for 'real' upgrades. NathsarSS is lvl 79, there are a couple of decent lvl 77 weapons, but the Fabled epic should really be your goal.

Didn't bother with MCd weapons as I had a decent enough fabled from T7 that got me to lvl 77 where the Star of the Morning's Glory was useable, moved up to a Deklium Battering Cudgel and NSS at 79, waiting to ding 80 and hit the epic road.

Definately mix and match T8 MC Vanguard/Devout for the added block and stuff.

Plan out your quest rewards if you do alot of them (you will for Terens and Jinisk faction at least - and proabaly the 3 or 4 in Jarsath Wastes for the Hammer and Hunter stuff). Lots of duplicate slots, and interesting effects - DA, Melee Crit, Spell Crit, etc.

Check out the quest for the Thuuga items too in Fens of Nathsar - yay, more faction...

For my DPS/solo gear, i got a set of Incarnadine Devout.

I was mostly in Kyle Bayle, which has better mit than MC, but i still took 2 of the 3 vanguard pieces with +shield block (shoulders i had Malicious, which i valued the 100 miti over 1 shield block).

Weaponwise, when not tanking i use Soulfire 2h anyway so I'm good there, for 1h weapon i replaced my crappy old Silver Sword of Rage from labs with a incarnadine Falchion, 4 second delay and a very nice range for a 1hander.

Hope that helps a tad.

Oh, and at 77 look into the I think its rillisian elite targ shield, with the firesong proc. It looks very nice for DPS, haven't tested yet as I'm only 75.

Hmmm, I need to start the Sword of Destiny questline asap to get Soulfire. Thanks for mentioning it.

Yeah T8 MC armor is very good, almost as good as instanced armor sets. In fact I'd wear some MC pieces over instanced pieces. Make sure to check the warrior "versions" of the set too, some of theirs are actually better than the devout version.

The MC 2h isn't very good, and the 1h aren't very good exception for the falchion (which is actually really good) but all of it is blown away by the Nathsar. Soulfire is kinda meh because although you do get the avoid it has a higher miss chance vs. t8 mobs compared to t8 weapons.

75th now, so yea. I went mixed vanguard\devout. MC weaps too until I find better.
