Is it just me or does evil knights suck in almost every current rpg ?

i havent played guildwars or FFXI yet. Id appreciate it if someone can say how the warrior/necro and necro/warrior hybrids and Dark knight are.

Trying to find a new game to fool around with in my spare time until WAR is released since Eq2 sk wont be fixed till 09 and Age of conan DT sucks worse then eq2 sk.


If any of u know of another active mmo or diabloish game (excluding TQ) that has evil knights that are decent or good id like to hear about it.

so far Dark Templar in AoC is going well and useful .. raids I don't know yet and game is full of bugs but hoping to see where it gets from nowon .. and you that still play EQ2 .. how are shadowknights doing? .. still same fighting for your spot against "more useful" classes?

about AoC I can say that my Dark Templar has heavy agro and depends on feat setup you can take fine amount of hits without getting hurt much and I haven't seen any guardian that can keep agro from me even if I'm just dpsing :P .. our Aoe dmg there is nice too .. I don't run any log calculator so I have no clue about my dps in numbers, but one time we had tough fight where I needed to tank one mob and guardian next to me was tanking the other, well I was beating up my target all the time and suddenly in that fight I got that guardian's target on me too purely from AE dmg .. (guardian sucked no doubt, good guardian should've been able to keep offtarget away from me)but that tells something about ae dmg .. soloing is nice too .. guardians have better armor so they can solo like million of mobs on them without getting hurt, but dark templar has loads of lifetaps so we will manage quite amount of mobs on us and our dps is higher .. but at least after checked what feats guardians have, they cannot be brickwalls and at the same time dps like no tomorrow like in EQ2 so you have to go full defense or little bit both or full dps .. not like in EQ2 you can have full defense along with full dps

maybe dt is good at 20-30 like every class in the game. I assure you that the class is the most unwanted broken class in AoC and rivals EQ2 sk in raid unwantedness.

The aggro might be good but the point is the healers dont wanna heal DTs as its 20 times harder then Guardians. The taps if u call them that are supposedly even broken since the last patch, half the feats are broken even after the "fix". Its fun to melee stuff still but if the game was so great you wouldnt have 3/5 of the pre orders quit before the first month and the rest quitting slowly each patch,


But anyway i made this thread wanting to find out the status of evil knights in other games, not AoC and EQ2, EQ1, VG.

In gw, the 2ndary profession is so minor that almost every possibility is viable.
In pve e.g. necro is very useful, but only in killing several bosses (Solo).
They use warriors armor and hp and necromancers elite skill.
In pvp, it really doesnt matter that much, I have a warrior which is my main, i have 7 other characters at 20, so i know what im talking about.
Usually you will take a support skill for a Heal, or desease cure or something similar.
I dont think theres any useful necro skill for pvp available, you will either use all warrior skills or 6-7 warrior skills with 1-2 support skills from your 2ndary profession.

i was thinking i would try war/necro over necro/war. so i could have access to plate armor and still get lifetaps. is the game bug fest or does it run pretty well ?


Anyone know anything about dark knight in ffxi ?

hmm .. well I'm at my 70 in AoC and haven't had trouble ppl healing me. guardian takes more hits but not that big difference at least with my DT .. but that is sure thing that game is full of bugs and things that doesn't work still .. I hope they will get fixed without breaking another things around em .. so far every fix has broken something so lets see...

Dunno if you meant GW, but in Gw if you pick necro youll use necro armor not warrior.

i heard that if warrior was your primary and necro was your secondary you could wear plate ? is this not right ?

You wear the armour of your primary class. secondary just offers different skills.

Yes evil knight class is gimp in all mmo's that have that class type currently.

Friend is in a raiding guild in AoC already and they will ONLY use guardians for MT's and OT's. Apparently the armor difference for the Guardians compared to the Conq's and DT's becomes to great when you start filling up with blue and purple raid gear for them to tank. They just take too much dmg.

Sk's here are apparently gimp, at least our mythicals are.

Maybe there is some hope for the Deathknights in WoW......
