lol someone new to EQ2 might rationally think that going on the offensive would be a more effective way of making an opponent angry....

I really don't like the taunt=deaggro in off stance, and no, "just don't taunt" is not the answer. As an OT on mobs that you KNOW aren't likely to fuck up, you want to be able to DPS, possibly in Offensive. But you have to be able to pick it up if something stupid happens to the MT's PC or some healer has their 3 year old bump a power button on a monitor or other stupidity. You don't really NEED to be in def stance to fix a minor fuckup like that, but you can't ride near the top of the hate list without taunting. I don't care how much damage you can do as an SK.

Sure there are tools we have that will pretty much put you at the top of that hate list instantly, but taunting is and always will be a necessary component. besides, one of our taunts is also a debuff.

Finally, it' a pretty rare situation that a tank that's not the MT is going to steal aggro, and if he did... its not anywhere near as big a deal as if some scout or mage wearing paper undies does it.

Changes aren't bad...they make sense...and I'm not sure why a lot of people are thinking this is out of whack.

If you want to tank and hold aggro and be a tank..then go defensive.
If you want to dps and not die or pull aggro..then go offensive.

If you want to MT go defensive.
If you want to OT go defensive.

If you want to not tank and dps go offensive.

What's the problem? lol

These changes are actually good...sure it takes away a lot of player skill....but overall it's a good change probably the best change for fighters.

Get the idea out of your heads that DPS holds aggro..cause it doesn't anymore this is what the change is all about.

It isn't a real problem. With the DPS you can push out in offense you most likely under the top 10 in the hate list. Spend 5 points in rescue, if that isn't enough FD the one who still has aggro.

Besides this, you still can macro your taunts to lose off stance and taunt to make sure you're getting higher in the hate list.

That prohibits you from debuffing, using two of your aoes and maybe even using death march. But I suppose thats always one option.

not taunting is definately not the answer while in offensive basically i think this is how it should have been all along as i tanked in offensive the majority of the time but it does make it a issue as a ot i think a hybrid stance like the brawlers have might be the answer though I don't think it will happen

i think its great, i'm sick of stealing aggro of the mt while in offense

You can always change stances in combat anyway if something needs to be done.

Switch to defensive - Grave Sacrament - Instant MT!
To be honest every plate tank except Guardians can skyrocket to top hate (Pallys get it easiest with Holy Ground, but the SK and Zerker AoE hate grab both do the trick in a few seconds).

Yeah I gotta agree that not taunting is not an option. Honestly that debuff on the taunt is way too good not use it, plus our other single target taunt, while not the highest amount of damge is our fastest recast and quite useful to get in a few times during a fight. I like the fact that we won't pull aggro in offensive stance now. Honestly our job is not to top parse when we are tanking, that's why we have scouts and mages in our group. Our job is to distract the mobs and keep everyone else alive while they do the dps. I am not saying that our dps isn't respectable nor that we shouldn't do dps, but if the defensive stance makes us more effective tanks than I welcome it. I also like the idea of having less hate in offensive stance, I have friends I group with that have fighters, particularly an sk friend of mine and it's hard on the healers when we juggle mobs between us. And before anyone says anything yes I dont' mind grouping with other sk's. In fact it's fun. For some reason sony let's our blessing line stack so you can have as many of them on the same person at the same time that you want. Keep it on the DL since i'm sure someone is gonna bitch about it, lol. Basically there is no reason you should have to use offensive stance when you tank, the changes make perfect sense to me. Maybe now the damn brawlers will actually have to tank once in a while, while we do the dps!
