I've been looking at my avoidance report recently and have noticed something quite odd. Almost none of my avoids come as a 'miss', it's all blocks, parries, ripostes, stoneskin. This is quite odd to me and not sure why it's happening. My defense right now is at 500 in raid setting. And really my avoids aren't too bad, it's just odd that almost none of them are misses. It almost makes me think that defense stance is absolutely worthless (not that its impact is all that big anyways, but for epic named fights i use it).

I've been preaching this for a long time to new SKs... but Defense stance makes them "feel" safe so /shrug...

Honestly I use Defensive stance for the Wisdom in places where the extra bit may help out more than the extra "defense". There's some cases where it can help out. At least there is some Int on it now...

Yea, and its easier to blame the healers when u say u were in defensive stance ;p since they don't know how small of a benefit it is. I think i only get like a 3% increase in avoidance from off-stance to d-stance when raid buffed, its quite sad. I just also wanted to check and see if this was happening to other SKs as well, since it seems odd that defense is practically doing nothing if i'm 'missing' 4 or 5 hits during a whole zone.

Yeah, I've noticed the same phenomena. My avoidance report in raids often puts "Miss" at 1% or lower. And usually the only mobs they register against are heroic adds, which I don't need the stat for anyway.

So I pretty much ignore +defense on items now. However I'll still use the D-stance to get the extra mitigation. I don't need it very much, but then again I don't need the extra weapon skill with dirge/warden either. /shrug

I use def right now, because I'm still kind of gimp and could benefit from the WIS, but its use is getting more limited as I get better gear.
