This is a common misconception among SKs who use ACT. If you examine both "Siphon Strike" and "Unholy Arms" you will notice that the they share the same attack, which is labeled "Grim Strike". ACT has no way to differentiate between the damage from the self proc and the damage from the CA because they produce the same text in-game. So even though "Grim Strike" is one of our top parsing abilities, its largely because two different abilities share the same text.

All that being said, I'm not saying that gallantry is necessarily a better choice than the unholy arms enhancement, only that its on-par. To reiterate, it depends upon your situation. Again, do want 5% more hate when using your taunts? Or 1% more real dps?

I myself switched from gallantry to unholy arms about a month ago, as the importance of my taunts have dropped off with mynzak on farm status for quite some time.

Even taking that into account, it still parses better than Gallantry would. Plus the 25% bonus effects Siphon Strike (until LU52 at least).

lol, I've read this through twice now looking for any insights that might cause me to tweak my setup. The information is so inconclusive I think I'll stick to what I have with DA and AEA in the mirror

there's really nothing you can say that can prove that AEA is better than DA, fact.

I agree, I wasn't looking for that debate to be settled, was just seeing if there was any clear consensus on the selection of other abilities.
