Tanking Shard Armor

Void Knight's set, or Holy Warrior set?

I'm OT on our raids, but our MT says I need to take more of a hit.

I'm currently in the Voidknight's set, but he's telling me to get the Holy Warrior set.

I need some advice here.

Do I get the Holy Warrior set, or do I farm some different stuff like jewelry and such?

My jewelry is geared for DPS and Spell Critical at the moment.

Just pull up the sets at the shard merchant in the moores and look at them side by side. Compare the +parry + defense ect ect. Also compare the set bonuses. HW gets the +15% shield bonus. VK gets the +mit. In my opinion Void Knight is a much better tanking set of armor than the Holy Warrior.

yeah, that mitigation increase is really sweet. Doesnt it like add 200-250 on each piece?

Yeah I'm sitting over 700 mit on each of my armor slots (excepting being forearm as I have crappy forearm)

except for the fact that avoidance > mitigation, since the mit cap takes a huge deminishing returns curve at about 60% (6kish)

Which Void Knight is still better than Holy Warrior for the +parry and + defense.

Stick with the void knight. Although its true mit can be capped fairly easily, if you're at T2 shard armor stage of gearing, the set mitigation bonus will be more useful to you than the shield effectiveness. Not to mention that the void knight stats are better overall.

If you're having problems taking a hit compared to your MT, its likely because you have a less optimal group setup. (Assuming the MT is equally geared)

Yup - Dont underestimate the power of a dirge, templar, and a brawler placing their avoidance stuffs on ya. Chances are, your MT is stacked with all of them, which yields something like 20% extra avoidance to the report. (might be 10-30%... havent checked in a long time). And if you arent with at least a SHM TMP, your hps are going to be much lower.

Thanks guys, guess our big problem is the abundance of leather healers and the scarcity of plate and chain....

and he's in T3 shard, with T4 around the corner, so it's not that he wants me to be better than him, he just needs help on the adds....lol, time to go recruiting....

mit is very underrated (for raiding) by a lot of people who think they know what they are talking about
