Does AoE and DoT's spell can crit ? - Page 2

Yup you're right, it's just all in how you go about in doing it, which dot first and the follow up etc.. if you set it up right and a few basic mathematics you can have a tick going off every second. To do that though can't cast all dots at once.

I didn't know that. I just assumed if it crits off the initial dmg the dot will automatically crit. I have 88% spell crit and 70% melee crit I haven't seen a normal initial dmg followed by a critical dot. The way I've seen it is a non initial crit will cause a non critical dot. Unless you mean the dmg multiplyer of the dot is effected by spell crit.

You didn't know because he is misinformed, there is no separate check and it certainly is not based on another type of crit.

Yeah I ran a bunch of tests..

Spell crit doesn't effect it at all. As I had mentioned before melee crit effects it. If you think of it, it's actually an aoe diseased base combat art.

I'm wondering. As a lvl 30SK with 1% spell crit. Why most of you seem to expect me to knew that DoT and AoE can crit ?

In almost every MMO DoT can't crit (in EQ1 you need a special AA's that wasn't implented untill severel years) and AoE can't crit in most MMO too (they can't in EQ1) At least they couldn't when I quited.

So I think it was a fair question.

You didnt realise that skills in your 'Spells' tab would be affected by 'Spell Crit'.... Hmmm....

IN everquest DoT and AoE are labeled spells but they are not affected by AA saying "incrasing spell crit"

since this game is called everquest 2 it was really possible that DoT and AoE couldn't crit out of +spell crit for an ex EQ1 player.

Also to a lesser degree DoT can't crit in WoW either, same with DAoC and if I'M right they can't crit either in Warhammer online but I might be wrong on that one.

So by experience its not because you got a +spell crit modifer ina MMO that your sure it will work on DoT's and AoE.

you should respec if your lvl 30 and have only 1% spellcrit
