Default Never played EQ, need help!

Ok I have never played EQ series before, I am currently downloading the free trial and I am deeply interested in the Shadowknights class, but I hate tanking! Does the Shadowknight class have a resonable amount of DPS at end game, or even through out the entire game! Sorry if this has been asked before but I can not spend all night on the forums falling alseep :-P

Any help will be useful ^_^

If you make an SK you will most likely be asked to tank, a scout, mage or bard class will get a DPS spot before you.

Endgame wise you'll be an Off-tank, meaning you'll pick up the additional mobs that are build in to some of the encounters. On situations that do not have those adds you'll be DPSing.

SKs can do a pretty good amount of DPS endgame and are a pretty simple, easy, fun class to level with (solo or grouped) especially if its your first toon.

If you really don't like Tanking, I would suggest picking a different class than Crusader (Paladin/Shadowknight) or Warrior (Guardian/Berzerker). While the Monk/Bruiser class are also tanks, they are currently not the main attention to tanking.

I'd recommend something else to be honest. There's plenty of classes that can both solo well, and do good DPS in a group, including end game.

Roxio - roll an illusionist - great class to play, can achieve good DPS high end, can solo, great for grouping and raiding - you will always get plenty opportunity to group and raid with an illusionist.

Once you've had fun doing that and learned more about the game - then roll an SK alt - they are truly a great class to play and can be very rewarding if you put in the time and effort to get nice gear and all your spells mastered, and ofc max AAs!

Yeah, if you want to roll a tank but not actually tank, your best bet is brawler.

If you just like the look of the SK, but want to dps instead of tank, just roll any class. There's plenty of appearance gear in the game. Most non class specific armor does come from station cash items, however there are several sets of armor in-game that can give even mages a plate armor appearance.

Actually one of the most recent station cash armor sets gives the most SK-ish armor I've seen in the expansion so far. It sure beats the hell out of actually SK unique raid armor.
