DPS or Tank

What do you find more effective for your raiding setups; Tanking speced with STR and STA or dps speced with INT (either str or sta for timers or crits)? Just curious ive tried it a few ways and usualy find that it dosent make a whole lot of difference with how im speced, just with how the group is setup. Normally i off tank/utility for the mage classes but also do my fair share of dps when a troub is in group. Just curious to see what people prefer/like being speced as.

Gonna have to agree with ya Lopann. Seems like grp make up makes MUCH more of a differance than just gear set up. With the Battle Leadership running, I do notice more consistant melle hits and harder spell/ca hits on mobs over lvl 70. But over all, its all about the proc's and buffs from the grp.

considering the trade and drastic reduction in survivability, i find its best to tank spec, some DPS type jewelry. but as you both said, group setup does a lot more than a few gear changes.

when i upgraded from shadow axe to planar axe i hardly noticed the difference.

Personally, im about 50% dps 20% tank and 30% middle, usually im beating all the other fighter classes and the scouts that dont know what theyre doing with my dps, and its great for aggro cause the mobs that i Offtank (princes, gardner horses, Sariah etc.) i can survive cause they hit like whimps.

I got All Dmg Spell increase and proc gear usually but i got complete set of tanking to when i need it. I dont think having one set thing is the best course of action.

It's our job to be able to do both, we don't bring much to a raid except our versitility. If an sk says, I'm a tank, thats all I do, or I'm dps thats all I do, then they aren't playing thier class to its fullest potential (raid or non raid sk's)

Personally I am tanked specced AA wise, and the majority of the time I am wearing HP/miti gear, when I dps, i only change to a 2hander and put on 3 or 4 pieces of proccing gear. Maybe change out my set shoulders with scrouge knights for the extra int. Depends on if I get Illusry arm or not as to whether i go all out int gear or keep my str topped off too.

Gotta say i pretty much agree with that, i am hoping that soe will lift a bit of the nerf hammer

on us when RoK comes out just because we dont have a huge list of things to offer to a raid focre, sure Death March is awsome and our AE dps is kickass but overall our dps is mediocre even when completely speced for dps and in INT gear...

Dunno what you're talking about, lol. We can still solo some pretty awesome stuff. I was dicking around in Nizara like two months ago and I was able to solo one of the roamers that paths across the first pair of bridges.
