On a more serious note... I wonder if some people just don't get the concept that not everything is better privatized. Of course I'm SURE the kickbacks from the healthcare industry have nothing to do with this idea.

Of course the arguments for this are so compelling... I mean everyone knows how cheap healthcare is right? And of course we have the argument that the government controlling healthcare for it's veterans is basically socialism !

Go ahead and start here. I can't make you learn things, in my experience regarding discussions with you, reality doesn't matter to you if it doesn't fit into yout ideas. But anyway, here's some places to start. I didn't read every link, nor did I look at every single one of them. But Mises.org is a good place to start, and many of these links will contain valuable information if you really are set on trying to help America instead of yourself/getting only your goals achieved.

Lasik eye surgery is a great example. No government intervention, rarely covered by health insurance, and controlled by the free market. Technology has improved while prices have gone down.

That's mostly because the technology is what, 20 years old? There are often rapid advances in any technology during it's infancy, e.g., the personal computer.
