Default Testing Waters

Greetings, all.

This may be an odd question, and, probably, an odd introduction as well, but could someone sum up the server ethics/character population make-up for me and current attitude towards the new arrivals?

I am not a player here, yet. I don't even have the game yet. I am currently in the process of upgrading my machine and considering my options for playing/doing some research before I do begin playing.

Why posting this on Splitpaw forums? Coin toss, to be honest. I currently reside in Spain, and this one is one of two European servers listed, so heads of tails method it was.

I used to play EQ back in a day, quit it 5 years ago, sometime after Planes of Power were released. RL issues and all. But apparently once on the 'crack, always on crack, and I am looking to get back into the thick of things, but not into the old game, for sure.

I used to play a lot, pride myself on being darn good at my role (played a bard), and be in a high end raiding guild. I can't do that anymore. I don't have neither the ability, nor the will to sink 5+hours, 7 days a week into the game. I don't have the advantage of being familiar with this game's mechanics. And I don't have anyone who will be starting this game with me.

I am up for the challenge, however, and I am willing to work my way up from the 'silly newbie' tier up. Knowing myself, I would also like to find myself a fitting guild of friendly and cooperative people and experience higher end raid content, eventually. Oh, and more likely than not I'll roll up a dirge or a troubadour, old habits die hard, after all.

So is there any chance I'll fit in on Splitpaw? Or should I look into more 'casual' rumored servers like Mistmoore and hope it has European population as well?

Thanks in advance .

Best off choosing either of the European servers IMO. Splitpaw is the best cos the server is actually in europe unlike RE. The game is quite old now and there is not much action going on at lower levels. Kind of hard to get groups at lower levels.

Unless you are an immediate prick and act the bollox in the chat channels the whole time then you should be welcomed by all. Most people will either be nice or /ignore . There are no server bullies that I know of. Good luck with the game and see you at level 80

Hi Arack,

Used to be a bard in EQ1, and I just know that thats a basis for some of the best players around. (not saying I am). Nothing is as much fun as barding in EQ1.

If you return to MMO's and pick EQ2, then Splitpaw is as good a bet for a server as any other. There is plenty goofs around, but mostly you will meet nice people willing to have fun instead of flames.

Just one warning, Bards in EQ2 is a totally other kind of pie. I don't know what makes your heart tick, but pls do consider your choice for class not an auto-bard-pick as I did. The gameplay is waaaay not as intense, and waaay not as interesting as it is in EQ1.

On the other side, from my personal perspective the gameplay is still more interesting then other classes. I mean, immagine being a tank...and main puller.../shiver. Or immagine having to heal people /cringe.

Anyways, enough babling....wherever you go...cast your dice and do a /enjoy

Thanks for the replies, everyone . Looks like I'll see you on the flip side in a couple weeks once the last of my computer parts arrive .

SoE - Europe issue... old song. :P

Bard auto-pick basis... it's not exactly that, Firz, though I admit it was the first archetype I looked into when I was reading up on classes and it still carries a hefty bias in my mind. I enjoy versatile support roles and classes with attitude :P.

And not as intense gameplay just maybe a good part, really. I remember how numb my hand was after some of the longer raids, almost got me a carpal syndrome... yeh, before they implemented /melody command. I remember a friend was telling me about that sometime after I quit, and I was like... "did it rain pigs today?" hehe. I do hope the class isn't too dumbed down, though...

Anyway, thanks again, everyone.

Splitpaw got really good ppl (and some idiots), but problem is that this server is pretty crappy (tons of downtime and lagging) and not to mention i don't think there's more than maybe 2k active players here.

carpal syndrome; been there done that....had my arm in stitches for 3 months due to bloody twisting..../melody command made it easier, but also took away part of the reaction/fun for me.

and nope, the server is not down most of the time....laggie in peak times yes, down not to much

Arack if want to play on spanish players Crushbone its the server on more spanish population, even on a spanish based raid guild, Templarios Elite, or something like that (not sure exact name)

In Splitpaw and Runnyeye are only a few spanish players dispersed, me spanish in a RE guild, but played on both servers SP and RE. Prolly more spanish in SP then RE tough, but the real un-official spanish server was allways Crushbone
