The OP is from a guild that has not killed Overking yet. Where voice comms come in really handy is to discuss what you are learning after each pull and decide what you can do better. For a guild that does not have insane DPS and a collection of really experienced raiders there can be a lot to explain on the strat. It would drive me demented to have to type all that shit and it would waste so much time.
For a HC guild, once you figure out a mob it is just a matter of repeating what you did last time. For a casual guild it is likely that at least 4 members of the force are different and were not present during the last kill. A quick run through the strat as it applies to them is called for. Again, I would hate to type all that shit.
Once everyone in the raid has killed it at least twice I would imagine there would be no need for voice comms but learning a mob or explaining it to first timers it is definitely easier with voice.
