Default Ventrillo/Voice Apps

How many of the raiding guilds out there use a voice application for co-ordinating their raid? I hope this is as stupid a question as I think it is!

voice chat did not even make it easier...often its more confusing then helping.....Newer players just don't remember what we mannaged in the early days.

4 color coded channels like EQ1 FTW....you never loose a second wondering who needs what.

Fable ventrillo is more or less dead unless it's a new mob or hard encounter.

Overking is a fucking pansy and doesn't even need Voice comms the first time you do it.

err... Why do you need voice chat for OK? In fact, wtf do you actually say?

Overking fight goes something like this: Pull > dps like crazy > kill blobs > loot chest.

No need for voice chat now, can just bookmark this page!

There's no big reason for voice com but tbh it's nice to have one for the laugh

The OP is from a guild that has not killed Overking yet. Where voice comms come in really handy is to discuss what you are learning after each pull and decide what you can do better. For a guild that does not have insane DPS and a collection of really experienced raiders there can be a lot to explain on the strat. It would drive me demented to have to type all that shit and it would waste so much time.

For a HC guild, once you figure out a mob it is just a matter of repeating what you did last time. For a casual guild it is likely that at least 4 members of the force are different and were not present during the last kill. A quick run through the strat as it applies to them is called for. Again, I would hate to type all that shit.

Once everyone in the raid has killed it at least twice I would imagine there would be no need for voice comms but learning a mob or explaining it to first timers it is definitely easier with voice.

You're right on this tbh. Guilds like fable, validus, unity and nastrand have experienced players and are used to hc (or semi-hc) raiding for a long time now. Everything is pretty easy once you killed it most of the time and you players are experienced enough to know what to do.

That's a completely different story for casual guilds where you have to work with people that haven't raided in a 'raidmachine' yet.
I'm not a a personal fan of you but i have to admit i have respect for what you're achieving with holy grail and as a casual guild voicechat is pretty much mandatory for getting somewhere cause you have to adjust strats on the flow most of the time just because of that lack of experience of most of your raiders.
