Default 64bit Vista & Q6600

Huhu I know this is abit wrong forum, but I figured more would read it here

Does anyone use 64bits Vista for EQ2 and does it run smooth? Also Does anyone use Q6600 or a E8400 and can tell me either of them is a nice CPU for EQ2?

Cheers!

Vista = Garbage.

Get XP Pro from a torrent and install it immediately.

I've got an E8400 in my new PC after I read a few forums saying that it is possible to clock it higher than a Q6600 in air cooling.

Cool but the thing that bothers me is that Vista 64bit is the only OS of them that can use 4gb RAM?

I love Vista tbh. EQ2 plays fine on 64 bit Vista btw. Also the E8400 is a better cpu for the money than the Q6600. If you want to go quad I recommend the Q9450.

I'm running Everquest II with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with no problem at all, but you really want a decent computer for it with a fair bit of RAM.

I'm running a Q6600 with 8 GB of RAM myself.

You lot never learn. EQ2 hates expensive shiny computers.

Athlon FX-57 here, 2Gb of (decent) PC3200 and 2x GeForce 7800GTX.

Cost a fucking fortune 3 years ago. But now it's old and knackered EQ2 runs really well and never crashes/freezes etc.

If you only want to play eq2 or other games that are only one process... go for Intel Duo 3 Ghz CPU and a good cooling sollution and overclock it to 3.4 - 3.6 GHz. It will be cheeper than a standard quad. and use less power and dissipate about the same amount of heat. And give you better performance on these old games.

If you are thinking about playing games that has some sort of quiality design in them then go for the quads.

because not enough money to buy a very good one ?
and when a very good one will be necessary, let's say in 2009 or 10, an expensive 2008 one will already be too old ! Then waisted money...
