I haven't played it, but I know several that are enjoying it. But, take that with a grain of salt. Cracatoa enjoys everything (MMO) initially.

That said, I'm not at all into space combat so that's keeping me away.

I typically do give MMOs the benefit of the doubt to start, I won't deny that. However, this really is fun. Maybe it only is fun leveling up, as I'm not sure about the top end game. I know they have several 5 man missions planned for the top end, and I think a few are already in.

Oh, there are already a ton of PQs that can be as many as 20 - 30 against xxx enemies. They can get really fucking nuts.

For me, it was worth buying.

I've tried Warhammer, Aion, Tabula Rasa, LOTRO and EVE and STO is the first new MMO I've tried that I really enjoyed.

Well, I'd have to say I like LotRO more than anything else, it just takes WAY too long to level up in. If it weren't for that, I'd probably be playing LotRO full time.

However, STO comes in a very close second.

D2D seems to be very reliable for most.

STO is fun, and if you liek space combat, or Star Trek, you'll probably enjoy it. The ground combat is fucking awful though... like playing City of Heroes but you can't fly or use any super powers, all you can do is shoot and a handful of other minor things.

The space combat is where it's at. Small battles are usually all the same, but larger battles tend to give me that "Wow this is fucking cool" feeling more often than not. And the graphics in space are pretty nice.

Around 15 or so, Ground Combat gets better. I'm not saying it gets good, but it is better.

So have they said anything detailed about the micro-transactions?

Saw something on their official forums about it. Holy hell that forum is fucking infested with idiots, couldn't find a solid answer.

If it is just fluff may consider it, possibly instead of SF tbh. Just not sure about the micro-transaction model or soo damn many vocal idiots, are they getting their way with changes?

Also how is the grouping for PvP and missions in terms of skill required for success as opposed to the random mashing of buttons?
